Recently acquired a '21 Limited DC and am curious if there were reasonable upgrades to the sound system available. It's way better than the POS sound system that was in my '19 TRD Pro. Any suggestions?

You'll be chasing weak links, best thing to do is budget about $2500-$3000 and pull everything out and do a Head Unit, 5ch Amp, Components in all the doors, and a sub or two in behind the rear seats.

This is the correct answer. Full replacement for best results.

    Stock, for now
Most probably you have a JBL system. Always think on what the final installation would be like so you don't have to come back and replace things, which you can always do. I would always like to start from the tail to the head. Here are my two cents….

    1. Replace door speakers. Components front and coax rear. Do not skip the sound deadening on the doors. Its a must for me on this trucks. You need to buy wire connector adapters and speakers adapters. The foams rings are also a must on this step.
    2. Add a DSR1 from RF or similar and add an amp for door speakers. 4 channel is ok if you are going with a mono for the subs. I like separe amps.
    3. Add sub enclosure with amp and sound deadening on the back wall.
    4. Replace HU. Some guys will say this is the first one which could be true. A descent HU run on the 1,000s so thats why its last for me.

To tell you the truth I called both star vendors of this forums but they were not too helpful, so I decided to take it on my own and design my own system and buy the stuff I liked and not want they wanted to sell. I guess I got into a little bit of technical questions and they got frustrated, but if you want budget systems they could be helpful, just don't ask too many technical questions. Lol. For me, it was very helpful to read the manuals and ask questions on forum like this one. I learned a lot just by reading this info. This is not rocket science. Also, go on YouTube and watch dozens of videos. One suggestion is to do your shopping. I saved just on equipment about 30% plus all the installation which I am enjoying a lot but if you are paying for this make sure you have accounted this in your budget.
    Happy installation.
