I need new tires for my tundra and am looking for recommendations
I currently have nitto ridge grappler 295/70 r18
    What I am looking for:
    - an aggressive looking tire that looks good on the tundra crewmax limited
    - a tire that will last going up and down steep mountain roads
    - a tire that does well on ice and snow also (rated)

    thanks for the recommendations

Nitto RG are not the best in snow/ice.

I have been very happy with Wildpeaks, look aggressive, drive very well, quiet, good grip in wet, snow, dry. They are also 3 peak rated and have a good treadwear warranty. Seem to tick all your boxes.

I’ve heard that Toyo Open Country A/T III are also really good too. I’m shopping as well so I’m watching what happens here

Frank, with your Wildpeaks did that require any lift?

Toyo and Nitto are the same company so those would be good as well.

I don’t blame you for not buying RG’s again. My ‘19 came with them and I was not impressed. As for what you should buy, I would recommend looking at some Coopers and maybe Toyos.

Good to know. Would like to hear from someone about road noise when they get to 30K and 50K miles.

I just called for some Nitto RG in 275/70-18 and there is a national backorder for them. I have had Falken WP before and for some reason I thought they wore down kinda quickly for the time/miles I had them. I tried to look at the Falken website for specs and they don’t list them but on discount tire they list them as 60#, wow. The Nitto RH the same size are like 50#. I was thinking of the Toyo AT3.

flex'n your onboard air setup on some really really shiny tires? :spy:

Did you have to air down to apply the tire shine?

(sorry i couldn't resist....its probably jealousy on my part )

My Cooper rugged trek have zero wear in three months. Mostly because they’re still stacked up on the shop floor.

I just installed toyo open country at2 extremes. I had the plain open country at2 on before and wanted a little more aggressive without going to a mud tire. Been pleased so far and love the look now.

I had the Toyo ATIIIs on my GX, they were great in the snow/ice, and did awesome on Colorado mountain pass roads with a little rock crawling. When I decided to jump to a 33" class tire, nobody had them in stock so I ended up with BFG KO2s.

Took a TON of weight to balance (those two pics are of the same tire). Will be following up with Mfg to see what’s up with that.

It's been my experience that a tire requiring that much weight will need balancing more often though it's life. I've seen it across several top tier brands.

I am getting close too. My dilemma is size. I would like a 285/60/20 but very limited choices so that is out. I had planned on 275/65/20 and Atturos X/T or Discount Tire's Goodyear UltraTerrain. Then I started looking at 275/60/20 but very few LTs in that size. I good stick with the KO2s but I want something a little better in the mud.

3" OME lift w/ UCAs. ARE overland shell w/ ARE roof rack. 34" Falken Wildpeaks. ARB awning. Road shower. Wilco Offroad Hitchgate Solo High Clearance. LED lighting upgrades. Lockerdown console safe. Weathertech floormats. Duluth deluxe rear seat cover to go under the offroad approved car seats.... :P
Second this. I had always previously run BFG AT KO2s. The Wildpeaks are noticeably better. Awesome in the snow and ice. I live in the mountains in CO, regularly drive steep, winding mountain roads with them. Stick like glue. 275/65/r20 (34") Fit nicely with a little bit of trimming on the skid plate and pulling the mud flaps off. Added 1.25" spidertrax spacers with the platinum wheels since they sit so tight under the truck.

Woops, that's what I get spitting out numbers from memory.... size shown on my truck is a 275/65r20... actual measurement on them in came in at 33.75", factory spec states 34". :p Thanks for pointing that out.... :boink:

I ran Duratracs on my Jeep for about six years and they were fantastic, but that is a much lighter vehicle than the Tundra.

I had them on a Tacoma. I never had any problems with them despite all the talk of weak sidewalls. I only ran them for 25k miles.
