Received my shipping notice for my mirrors and they will be here next Thursday. I went with manual fold with the lower power flood lights. I want to connect the flood lights to my interior dome lights so they act as approach/puddle lights. My wife’s Subaru has these on the mirrors and I really like the feature.

Anyone know which wire to tap to have these lights come on with the interior lights?

My understanding is you want to hit the footwell light, BUT you have to grab both positive and negative for it to work right. With the boost mirrors, they have all of the grounds combined per the factory set up.

Thanks Casey. I’ll take a look at that option and see where I can tap into the footwell light.

I purchased the Boost Mirrors. They were good. I did get a little vibration from the passenger side. Some people had been sticking foam padding or something behind them. I just dealt with it. If you don't need all of the features of the Platinum I might suggest buying the OEM style.

I had the OEM tow mirrors on my 2020 TRD sport and they were just way too small. Could not see anything out of them, with my 27' travel trailer in tow i could not see the tires, top of the trailer or the blind spot at the lower corner panels of the truck. With the Boost auto tow mirrors I can see everything. They are WAY better than the OEM. no matter what features your current truck has or what features you are looking for in a tow mirror.

I just installed these boost auto mirrors on my 2020 Pro and ordered the power option wiring kit from boost. I don’t want to use their switch so I purchased the 2nd gen power mirror switch like needed... my question is. Boost auto has a green plug on the end of the wiring kit that is suppose to plug into their switch. It has 4 wires coming out of it. Did you just cut the plug off and keep in inline fuse and use a couple wires off it to plug into the factory wiring harness to plug into the gen2 power mirror switch? If so. Which wires do you plug into the factory harness from the boost auto wiring kit to make the gen2 power mirror switch activate mirrors? Thanks and hope this makes sense.

Check out @RainMan_PNW build thread. He used a second gen switch to setup his power fold. He includes wiring diagrams that will likely answer your questions.

I ordered mine from Boost set up as though I had factory wiring, so they had it terminated to the connector in the mirror already. But the wiring diagrams for how I wired it are in my build thread and that info should still be pertinent.

Yea I read thru your build.. awesome build by the way..

My mirror connectors were different than you ordered but should still work out. Mine had the main plug, white wire plug, and small black plug with blue and yellow wire..

Boost auto provided wire harness that has red(power),black(ground), and then the blue and yellow wires running into the green plug they usually plug into the switch provided..

Do I still need to tap the power and ground the black but just insert the blue and yellow wire into the factory power mirror connector to the corresponding plugs? And if so I’m not sure which of the blue or yellow is + -

sorry to be confusing but don’t want to screw anything up

Here is a picture of the green plug on the end of wiring harness that boost auto provides.

Is the switch Boost Auto provides illuminated?

I believe so.. if I had to guess. I would assume the power and ground is for the illumination of the switch.. I know the blue and yellow wires go to the mirrors in the black connector at mirror location so I would guess they would be the ones to plug into the factory connector

here is picture of switch from Boost auto

Sorry again for the slow reply
So the way the power folds works is that in fold mode, the power is sent to the motors in one polarity, and in extended mode the polarity is switched. There are internal limiters/cut-offs in the mirror so that when they reach the limit of the current travel the power cuts out until the switch is changed.

I’m guessing/betting that the switch from Boost stays in one position or the other (latching - not momentary). They’ve wired it to bring power in from the red wire on a common pole and send that power out on either the blue or yellow based on the switch position and the ground hits the other based on the same position.

Anyway - to answer your original question - you need to use the blue and yellow wires that are coming from your mirrors and terminate them into the spots where the brown and orange wires are in the diagrams I posted in my build thread (Pins 9 & 10 in the connector that goes into the Gen 2 mirror switch). I’m not sure which order you will need to put them in because I don’t know which color is MR and which is MF in the Boost wiring, but once you hook them up and test it, you’ve got a 50/50 chance if it being right. :D

Annoyed with Boost a little bit. Emailed them 3 days ago asking if they would be having a Labor Day sale, was told it wouldn't happen. Look today and they are having a 10% off for labor day..... decent deal but just annoyed. If other people made mirrors like this for the Tundra with the quality and options provided by Boost, I'd totally go elsewhere but we really don't have other options...

Edit: placed my order with them

Hey all, I finally received my manual fold mirrors, power seemed overkill but am already regretting. Anyways, I installed and was super easy with the help of Patricks video (thank you) but haven't wired the HO lights yet. I didn't want to connect to the reverse lights, but was thinking of tapping into the cargo bed lights.
    A) has anyone done this?
    B) does anyone have any input on why this may not be a good idea?

    Thanks in advance.

If you mean the cargo lights that are part of the high stop, yes it can be done. It is where I connected mine. I tapped the wire that feed these lights so I can turn on the mirror lights with the cargo switch and they also come on when I unlock the doors.

You will need to tap wire 28 from connector 3K. You will need to take apart the dash to access this connector just the left of the steering column. Diagrams thanks to @RainMan_PNW

Question related to most recent posts for Boost Tow Mirrors (2021 Tundra TRD Pro): If I decide to use the back lights as "approach/puddle" lights tied into the dome or cargo lights and lock/unlock, what are the pros/cons of low output flood vs. high output spot?

For context, I already have Rigid halo lights installed in my rear bumper, so I can already light things up when in reverse. I was thinking that the low output flood might be best for softer/more disperse approach lighting.

    Any insights/ guidance appreciated.

I chose the low output flood for use as a puddle lights and I am happy. Hard to provide a pro and con since I have only had the one type.

Boost will sell you replacement lights and you could switch to the spot version if you decide you don’t like the flood version.

I'll throw another question out there around the forward light options. Since I've got diode dynamics amber fogs as well as some baja designs amber spots behind my grill, I'm planning on going with the clear strip (with sequential switchback) to just match-up with my factory white daytime running lights, instead of having yet another (different) version of amber while just running. (Obviously the turn signal will be amber.)

I know this is "each to his own" but wanted to test that thinking on this crew.

    What's your question?
If you are asking about doing white DRL instead of amber. I agree with your reasoning about not wanting another different amber. The forward blinker is amber but the indicator on the mirror glass is red. I do not think they offer that in amber.

Thanks Robert. Yes, you got it. I'm assuming the white DRL in the mirror will reasonably match my factory white in my headlights, while there would be a greater risk of the amber not matching up well with my other aftermarket stuff. Overthinking it, but that's what lots of options are for!

I'm right there with you. I often overthink details for the truck. And especially with the cost, not something you want to regret.
