I went to Cabelas for .22 LR to supply the rifle range for a youth summer camp. I needed 12,000 rounds.

They had a big sign posted "Limit 5 boxes per customer." The only boxes are 300 rounds each. Do the math. I need 40 boxes. This is going to take 8 trips. Oh well.

I get 5 boxes and go to checkout. The cashier tells me that the limit is 1 box. I mention the sign. He says that's only for boxes of 250 rounds or less unless you use a cabelas credit card. If so you can buy 8 boxes. Guess I didn't read the fine print.

I say, "You're only stocking 300 round boxes. 250 or less is not an option."

They say, "You can sign up for the Cabelas credit card."

    What makes me angry
Begging contractors to show up to do work so you can pay them money! Basically begging someone to take your money.
(no I can't do it myself, I don't have the tools, knowledge, skills, experience, expertise nor inclination to crawl under the house to repair some subfloor issues.)

Try speakimg with the manager, or maybe even call corporate. Retailers will usually work with customers for a one-off large event, although it might have to be a special order/shipment from DC to fulfill your order instead of taking stock off the store shelf.

That said, times are weird and supply chains are still stressed - they might not have 12,000 rounds to commit to one order.

I told the local manager it was for a youth camp. He approved 4 boxes. Just 10,800 rounds to go now.

When I was writing the last message I remembered an old hunting buddy from Washington who is a licensed firearm dealer. He's going to place an order for me directly from a manufacturer. I didn't ask which one because it doesn't really matter for novice shooters with .22 LR using open sites at 30 yards.

When I finally have a day off after several hard 12 hour shifts and my boss texts me immediately after I put a six pack in the fridge this afternoon and tells me he needs me to take call-ins tonight. Dammit!!!

 everyone's situation is different, but I could say no with no remorse. I signed up for 40hrs and a paycheck. I didn't sign up to give my life away. I used to be the eager beaver and worked extra hours and did extra things for the company. But then realized I didn't have much of a life. Now when I say no to extra stuff, they don't get mad or even question it. They just call the next person down the list.

While I agree with what you say, in my case I know that my boss doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty and works harder than most. I also know he has done a commendable job of covering my ass on more than one occasion and he rarely asks me for anything extra. If he was just an average boss I would have said no.

It is IMMENSELY easier to do extra for a boss who is always pitching in extra himself! More bosses need to learn this!

It's friggn hot, I'm in the electric 'golf cart' that belongs to my department at the U, trying to get back to my office from campus through a busy part of L.A., and nobody has patience. I can't go 35, I can do 20 but that's it. And people are racing around me on the right, and one almost hit a parked car doing it. REALLY? Is your house on fire bud? You gonna end up in that cemetery like the one on our right if you keep driving like that. Sheesh. Nobody in a tiny car drives like that when I am in my Tundra, but I can park anywhere on campus in the GEM cart so I take that. People need patience.

The architect and general contractor telling me the work I just completed is wrong...because the drawing is wrong. Bruh.

Being told to disregard the drawings and work off love notes on the floors and walls. They can't even be bothered to write them down on a drawing to correct it. Then they throw a hissy fit later when the local jurisdiction inspects the work and fails it because it doesn't match the submitted drawing.

Last year I almost lost their work for complaining to another guy about it and the GC's girlfriend heard some of it. LOL they know they suck. Six figure remodel jobs. It's embarrassing.

Yup. Gotta watch who you say anything around these days. Everybody is all to willing too throw somebody under a bus or stab them in the back if they think it might make them look good for a second. Even when you think you know people, and that you're not the topic of gossip, things you say will get twisted and said to the wrong people. Then those people are mad at YOU for shit somebody else said.

Humanity is due for a plague, and covid was a disappointment. F**k people.

Truth. American society is in serious decay.

My boss forwarded my all the messages he got from them about it. I almost couldn't believe what it said because I thought we got along pretty good. Never said anything close to that to me in person before. Now I just fake a smile and offer no input anymore, good or bad. Just repeat the same mistakes over and over and over again on identical jobs and let them figure it out on their own.

The only upsides are the work is local and they write checks quick.
