The green light with a truck on an incline is the new “Dukes of Hazzard Mode” indicator.

    Sweet!

Can I get mine in orange, with a 01, but instead of the Confederate battle ensign, I’ll have mine with a proper United States battle ensign.

Oh and I need a horn like the one on the show. And a hot chick.

The good thing is you won't have to worry about it if you don't buy that particular trim level in the photo...its not like every truck is going to look like that. Those that love it will buy it, those that don't will buy another packages, choices are a wonderful thing!

Do the TRD Pro’s only have one interior color choice? I would think the red would be optional along with good old inky black @Darkness would approve of.

That red looks better in person I bet. Looks very close to the red Lexus offers but I'm not sure it is a great choice for a truck. More a of a luxury German car styling to me.

I actually like red leather in person aesthetically in a sports car or sport sedan/wagon that has the nuts to back it up.

A truck though, I am not sure. Functionally like any bright or light colored leather, red will eventually show every stain or discoloration you can imagine.

I work a blue collar job as a locomotive engineer, believe it or not I stay pretty clean 99% of the time. That 1% though, yeah… clothing is going to get gacked up with grimy black dirt from rubbing up against air hoses, and other stuff. Plus if I have to hoof it for a bit boots get really disgusting. I also have a small boy, a Rottweiler, and a German Shepherd. So I live in the world of dark interior colors and rubber floor mats now. My current Tundra has beige leather and it’s tough to keep it looking acceptable.

I had red leather in my 04 gto. It looked great clean but was an absolute bitch to keep that way. Jeans, sweat, dirt, looking at them wrong, all left them looking dirty.
They were full grain leather so Toyota softex may not get dirty as easy, but the gto was a weekend toy. The tundra will be daily driven. Sweat and sunscreen from working or fishing all day in the summer, mud/dirt from hunting and mtn biking, and jeans sliding across them every day would wreck them

I think 2018 and 2017 will be. For those that don't like the TSS system, the 2017, and for those that want it and a factory cooler, the 2018.

I have a 2021 and I would much rather have a 2017 and older. The electric nannies are annoying and not having a trans cooler is kinda lame. But I have Android Auto....that works 60% of the time. Everytime.... Should have done more research

With all the sponsorship Toyota has put in to the Olympics this year they would have taken the opportunity to reveal the new Tundra.

I'm right in the middle. Bought a 2019 because I hate the phone app radio garbage and didn't want it, but the 2020+ got the push button start and smart handles that I miss from my WRX and Renegade. The cooler I'm not too tore up about, because I can add one readily enough. I do love the radar cruise control, and the other nannies have not caused me any issues.

I like the idea of radar cruise control but don't like the gap it leaves between you and car in front of you. Here in CA people just use that gap to cut you off. Then the truck slows down to spread the gap. Insert the next a-hole to jump in the gap again. I would never get home at that rate. LOL

Yeah, I can see that being annoying, but bad drivers are not the systems fault. Everyone should have a gap. If they did, there would be fewer pile ups. If wishes were fishes, though.

You can adjust the gap to a closer setting. Unless you already have it adjusted to the closest, I think there are 3 distances it can be set at.

I tried that. It helped but still leaves plenty of room for other cars to keep jumping in there

No. TSS is Toyota Safety Sense. There is a southern regional Toyota network that also does a "TSS" package that is an aftermarket wheels and stickers package, so it causes confusion.

Yeah my mom’s new 2021 Lexus RX350 has radar cruise control. I drove it quite a bit on vacation when we met up a week or so ago. The car also has probably the same display/location the Tundra will be getting along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

I only drove the Lexus on 2 lane state highways, mostly Hwy 61 in Minnesota. Radar cruise control wasn’t horrible but is a feature I wouldn’t use much unless I was specifically following a leading vehicle in a convoy type situation. Didn’t figure out how to turn it off, if anyone knows how let me know.

The Lexus doesn’t force you to navigate the screen for climate controls, seat heat/cooling controls, or anything else I could complain about. Pretty well laid out, and the screen is in a more useful location than buried in the dash, it’s easy to glance over if you need to see something and still have peripheral vision on the road ahead. The larger screen also makes split screen functions viable, so you can have nav up on one side and another function displayed on the other. Once I got Apple CarPlay initialized I mostly used that and liked it pretty well, no function problems at all. I mostly listen to Pandora, iTunes, or Spotify so I can’t comment on the radio controls. Didn’t notice where they were to be honest.

I wasn’t impressed with the 3.5L V6 but the 8 speed auto was nice. Would have been better with more torque, but the tight spacing of the gears kept the V6 on the boil so it was capable of getting out of its own way. Shift logic and throttle response were default set to economy, which is infuriating but easily set to sport. In sport mode the transmission got with the damn program.

That said compared to my SS with the LS3 the Lexus was an absolute dog, if the RX was making 350HP and 350lb-ft at a lower RPM it would be way more enjoyable. It would still handle like a bag of smashed assholes but it’s mission isn’t to be a sport sedan like my SS; it’s mission is comfy luxury transport appliance for bucks up soccer moms and middle aged women. Even soccer moms and middle aged women like more power though, just sayin’.

I am optimistic the Tundra will have nice tech features based on my most up to date Toyota product experience. Also optimistic the new 10 speed should be a really nice upgrade over the current 6 speed.

I think they put it on both 4x4 and 4x2, but I'm not sure. I'm nowhere near the south, but I know there are lots of guys on here that have the TSS package trucks. Let me dig a little and I'll see what I can find.

Quick bit o' google and got this. It's a TSS packaged truck with 4WD. You can see the 4x4 badge on the tailgate. TSS is strictly an appearance package that the southern distributor puts on trucks, and they can put it on a 2 or 4 wheel drive.

Not sure about the Lexus, but for my 21 Tundra, you would hold in the button to turn on the cruise control and it would then go into constant speed cruise control mode. I would imagine it would be the same for the Lexus.

My wife has been debating this as her maternity leave comes to an end, though not in terms of money or keeping up with the Joneses. We both think it's important for us to raise our kids, rather than a nanny or daycare, but my wife also wants to maintain her standing as a registered professional. She worked hard to get to where she is - 4 years of university, board certification exam, ongoing professional development every year - and if she doesn't work a certain number of hours every year and take a certain number of courses, she'd have to go back and take the board exam again if she wanted to return to working. So for now she's planning to work part time and have her mom watch our daughter on the weekdays that she's working.

That's what my wife switched to. Was full time PT, and after our first, she found a weekend job that is 1/2 day friday, then saturday and sunday. It stinks not having her around on weekends to do things, but we don't pay for daycare now, and she earns the income we need to pay off her student loans, and maintains her certification. Our second is coming this weekend.

I have the TSS package on a 4x4. You get black rims (not the ones in the pic above, though) and Goodyear duratrac tires, and the badging is all black instead of chrome. Oh yeah, and that super cool high $$$ sticker on each side of the bed! lol I don't recall if the step bars are incuded or a separate add on, but I think they were separate.

On edit in a feeble attempt to stay on topic and be funny: All I know is, if they don't add cool stuff like this at port to increase the price/profit on the new 2022+ models, I won't buy one!
