TRD sway bar?

People over think this, I think

I ran the RSB on my Pro. Basically if you own a Tundra and have ever taken a turn going >20mph it will make a difference. It will make a useful difference when towing. It wont make your truck a sports car, but it will make it feel more sporty. It will stiffen the rear suspension feel a bit over potholes and any bump that affects one side of the truck.

If you can spare a couple hundred its worth it.

 

Just put them on the truck, front and rear, feels great when turning , and does help towing, specially on heavy loads.

 

Hell, just ordered one since my old one was damaged when the truck was totaled.

Toyota was back ordered on these. I tried my local dealer and at first they stated it was indefinite back order but you could still order. Now Toyota just put a stop sell on it because people are buying them up and I guess theyre way backed up at their part factories due to covid.

 

Just installed - big difference in cornering and staying grounded.

 

I installed mines on Friday before leaving on a long trip. It makes a big difference on the turns. It does stiffen up the rear end on a straight line drive. And it wasn’t on back order through my dealer. I ha e to re-torque everything tomorrow because I only had a cheap ass torque wrench and saw the u-bolts bending. But from other pics the u-bolts do bend. Either way it was worth it.

 

Some tundra accessories parts will be discontinued soon, I think sway bars are one of them, the oem pop lock as well.

 

Wonder why. Any info on this. Either way I got mines already.

It would seem a little odd for Toyota as they still offer TRD parts for vehicles that are older than our Tundras. Hell, you can still buy the TRD brake kits for the 2000 era Celicas, or sway bars the Scion cars.

 

I just installed mine yesterday. Used a CDI split beam torque wrench and my u-bolts bent on the top. I think they're supposed to.

 

The sways are considered accessories, and accessories production usually stops around same time as vehicle production stops, which will be in next 45 days.

So whatever stock left is pretty much it.

For 2000s era celica trd parts, those are nos parts, those brake kits were made by stoptech, same reason why it's almost impossible to find the replacement rotors for the trd 400mm BBK.

 

I like the color match on the hardware.....powdercoat or paint?

 

The Tundra isnt stopping production though. We know its under going a generation change but it would be the same situation the Tacoma has gone through. Yet you can still buy the 2nd gen TRD parts, intake, short shifter, exhaust. Same applies to the FJ cruiser, which is out of production.

As I had previously mentioned TRD still produces the sway bar for the Scion models, while this is a shared platform with the Corolla its again a previous generation, just as the current iteration of the Tundra will be this fall.

I havent any issue with being wrong, I surely hope I am not though, simply because the rear sway bar for the Tundra is easily one of their most selling Tundra accessories. There are shortages from the factories right now, which at least as I had been told by Toyota resulted in the stop sale. I have a hard time seeing them stop production on the rear sway bar, while the front is still listed in production.

It might be a gray area, but there are federal laws prohibiting a manufacturer from ceasing production of a stock part for a vehicle within a 10 year period of its production. I suppose it could be argued that since the sport models come stock with RSBs, that I would hope to assume they would at least remain in production until 2028.

 

This gen is, xk50 is stopping at end of September, or around there, scion trd parts are nos , they are not in production.

And you are right on service parts, so they will most likely make it only available if you had equipped it from factory, but the production for these are stopping soon, same as pop lock kit, doesn't mean will run out, but don't expect it to be widely available as they are now.

Interesting to learn the bit about Scion parts. Glad I ordered my bar today in that case.

 

They over estimate the Scion parts demand by a large margin lol.

I recall they said they estimate 40% of scion tc will leave the lot with some sort of trd parts, which raise some eyebrows at dealer convention, oh well.

 

The torque numbers are all over this site but the rear sway bar is one of the best mods you can do.
If you really off road, then you already know that you should not have sway bars.
If on the fence, do it.

 

Powder coated at same time as coils - minimum at powder coater so added in the hardware to be done. It does change the wrench sizes however due to the powder coat added width to the bolts and nuts.
