I've worked for a west coast gov't agency for 14 years now. I work in a group of people who do actual work, however it's the overhead people in the cubicles always doing that crap, and I've heard some real zingers. Like the emails, people actually giving gov't credentials to the phishing attempts, people opening attachments, city hard drives getting full of personal cameraphone videos being downloaded to it, networks slowing down due to everyone streaming videos.

One day, had to go into the main downtown offices. Talked with a bureaucrat, she printed a page for us. Sent it to the printer. We go stand by the printer waiting for it. The printer is furiously printing pages. After a good while, we get curious, so we look to see what is the printer so busy printing, because it is literally a stack of pages 3" thick by now.
It was printing a single line of wing-dings at the bottom of each page! We found the guy who was "printing" and he was literally 8 feet from the printer, sent a document to it no more than a few pages, and after hitting "print" on his document, never realized that the printer printed for nearly half an hour.....and of course you know how gov't agencies love to tout "paper conservation!"

Our agency is basically competing for "talent" with Amazon. They pay office workers 50% more, so the ones we get are bottom of the barrel. Oh, and only diversity hires the last few years (although that's not THE problem, that's all this agency cares about).

We make software solutions with detailed “how to” user manuals. Some of the things that end users do are so out there and idiotic and the expect our support people to fix their idiotic decisions. I’m not talking about simple mistakes but intentional operations that are way out there.

Yup. The below is the actual text of a work order submitted recently to our customer management team:

"Received email in my inbox that tripped McAfee Antivirus. Forwarded it to EVERYBODY IN MY OFFICE TO SEE IF IT WAS FAKE OR A REAL VIRUS."

Kinda. It's what happens when parents quit being parents so they can pursue two incomes to keep up with the Joneses and they let nannies, ipads, and schools raise their children. Combine that with the natural stupidity of our species, and it's a shit show.

So we have officially exhausted speculation on the new Tundra it seems, lol. Unless it somehow makes us smarter.

Pretty sure that happened when the first reveal pics popped up. This thread shifted gears from speculation and hope to bitching and whining at that moment.

As someone that has a 4 year old son, 9 year old daughter you are so correct! However, we are really lucky where our kids go to daycare and school as they are pretty top notch in our little area.

Yep. Everyone was begging for pictures. Just one official picture. Well.... we got the picture, and people were up in arms about not having more pictures, more interior shots, a spec sheet, etc etc. The wait is part of the fun for me. If they released all of the info months ago, we wouldn't have anything to look forward to right now

Well I was in west Montana recently & ran into a car salesman who actually knows cars. He was up on all the trials & tribulations of the new Tundra...and all their other models...though he's at a Chevy/Jeep/Dodge dealer, and he said he just put down an order and deposit for a '22 Tundra. Gas or Hybrid, TT V-6 or V-8...said he doesn't care. Just wants one now[or what ever's closest to "now"]. This was yesterday.

How is it possible to put a deposit down on a 22 Tundra if there is no fixed price/option/ model figures even out yet. I really don't understand how that works. I mean people have zero idea of what they would be buying.

My little guy starts pre-school in a few weeks, already did summer recreation/pre-pre-school this summer. He turns 4 in a few months, excited to see him grow and learn. Looks like private school for him until 3rd grade at least.

It is an agreement you can make with your Toyota dealer if the dealership is amenable to the idea. Essentially you put down a deposit for a truck to be built at some point in the future. Usually how it works (if the dealer is ethical) is you write a check, they hold on to it and when they get allocation for the new vehicle they will know pricing, specs, options, packages etc by then. At which point your salesman or sales manager should call you and figure out how to preference or outright order your new vehicle. Toyota used to not be the most flexible with letting dealers special order inventory, usually it’s trim level, option packages, color as about the only variables.

So hypothetically you plunk down $500 for an allocation slot, they call you up and you tell them you want a TRD Pro with no sun roof, in whatever color, etc once all the details are figured out. Alternatively you put down your $500 and the truck turns out to be a giant pile of poo… here is where an ethical dealer gives you your deposit back. Assuming you don’t place the order and then back out after spec-big out some weirdo options that will be the kiss of death making the truck sit on the lot for a year.

Our policy when I was in the business was to return deposits if no order were actually placed, we never even cashed the check. We’d still refund the deposit if a customer had to back out and the vehicle was going to be a good build for inventory, sometimes it worked out because a unique car might show up to go in the showroom that we wouldn’t have otherwise ordered.

Keep in mind most dealers are going to cash that deposit though once a deal is made and an order is placed. Do not make a deal for an order until the purchase price is fully negotiated and signed off on. Also bear in mind that if you make a deal on some strange color and options combo, and then back out they’re keeping your deposit.

It’s usually $100-500 and the money is typically 100% refundable or goes towards the purchase. Happens all the time. Tesla’s Cyber truck has something like a million deposits on it at $100 a pop. It can give the manufacturer an idea of how many they should be making.

So from that we know the Tundra will catch up to the 2016 Tacoma on OR features and get a red interior option.

Agreed. I have no concerns with my '17 Tundra. Well this is my first truck, I was hoping that Toyota would come out with 3/4 ton truck as I am in the market for one, but do not see that happening anytime soon...or anytime....ever?
