I've been searching for a truck-bed cap for my 2021 Tundra CM but can't seem to find "the one". Looking for something that's waterproof, offers some security for stored items, can sleep inside of it. I REALLY wants a Super Pacific but since it's a canopy camper, its $$$. Not sure about the GFC version 2, still hearing about some design quirks. Don't want a fiberglass top (prefer steel or even better Aluminum), don't like some of RSI's design choices (Adventure model isn't made for my truck but weirdly the Sport mode is, non-stainless steel hardware that rusts, and cannot lock from the inside). RLD seems ill-fitting, and a lot of the other South African or Australian majors don't offer anything for the Tundra. I came upon this company, https://xtrusion-overland.com. Seems pretty interesting in theory, being that the options for adding and customizing are pretty much limitless since you can get parts/pieces from www.8020.net, let alone Amazon. I guess there's a DIY version by going to 8020 website yourself but Xtrusion does seem have a few proprietary CNC'd parts and accessories. There are a few YouTube videos that show it off. The cool thing is that you can configure this rack to accommodate a Softopper, which offers the best of both worlds, but is that a viable solution or just a bandaid?

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Looks like its made with parts easily found online. Not a knock on it just pointing out you could easily repair this if parts were to break.

Wow! Nice find. Been looking at racks to go over my soft topper. This might be the one.

@Mr. Wolf, good question. I was also worried about some of the design quirks of the GFC v2, as I was waiting to pick mine up. Time will tell, but I think they’ve worked through some of them. I’ve had my GFC installed for a few weeks now and so far so good. I’ll be in it for a week shortly and let you know if any issues that surprised me.

@cs808 First of all, your truck is super nice! Tell me...what is that front bumper?? How do you like the V2? They have indeed addressed most of the quirks from V1. Here are my thoughts: I still woulda liked to have seen a ceiling fan option (does installing an aftermarket one void their warranty?) as well as an option to have a darker roof material. And what about an insulation kit for the tent? I also think it would benefit to see them use a scissor-lift bars (or whatever that part is called) on the hinge end to give about a foot more height in the foot area when opened (like the Eezi-Awn Stealth Wedge tent). Lastly I've read that one needs to be careful of the sharp edges on the steel L-bars used to frame the mattresses - when moving them around up top you need to be careful that the sharp metal corners don't rip the tent material. Nothing a little grinder can't handle though. Overall, the new V2 looks awesome so I'm on the fence of putting a deposit down for that or going the Xtrusion roof rack/Softopper route. Please send/post some pictures of your V2! Good luck with it!!
