Yeah, that Plat owner must of added the hood.

I just use N once in a awhile, also saves a little gas by taking load off engine.

Sounds like a case of "scoop envy" to me. ;)

I like the looks of it - I do wish it had a function though.

One thing I hope we see with the 22 is engine braking being a tow haul only feature.
There's only one thing I truly dislike about the current gen and its the fact I have to give it gas to go down a a steep hill. Even towing my 21' bass boat I have to apply a little throttle to maintain speed down steep hills.
At the very least, let it be activated upon downhill braking like on the 4runners. When I towed the same boat with it all I had to do was pump the brakes twice and it kicked up a gear to engine brake and kept a constant speed downhill.

This is interesting to me. One of my biggest complaints about my truck is its lack of engine braking when going down hills, with or without tow/haul mode.

If Toyota does end up having a hybrid Tundra, the regenerative braking kicking in down hills to maintain cruise speed does a pretty good job in other cars. I've only experienced this in a Rav4 with a ~1500lb trailer, so i'd be curious to see if the regen is sufficient enough to slow a heavy trailer on a Tundra.

Agree. Towing up and down 3 mountain passes in Colorado two years ago, I would have loved to have that. It got a little dicey if I didn't watch it. Of course, I had the crappy OEM brake controller then too. Eisenhower and Vail Passes are no joke. And Monarch coming out of Crested Butte.

How'd you get your truck to sit so level with that load? I have a lightweight race car that sags the rear suspension a little too much, even with it sitting as far back as possible on the trailer (though it has a 4ft dovetail).

Firestone bags with cradles. They're great. I rock a WDH now for it, too.

I hate the lane assist on our ES and always turn it off for these same reasons. The collision avoidance is also often annoying. I have watched people walk past the rear of the car, the beeping stops, and I begin to back up only to have the car outomatically apply the brakes. It also sometimes does the same if I turn the wheels while backing out of the garage. I guess it senses (in error) that I will maintain the angle and hit the side of the garage entrance. Unfortunately, this feature can't be disabled.

I typically have to pump my brakes to get mine to downshift and engine brake. Never had it downshift where I had to gas it down a hill.

    Here is my prediction,
Three engine choices, v-6, v-6 hybrid and 5.7 just to keep some people happy and will be slowly fazed out.
The big change will be that Toyota will produce a lot more trucks and try to take over the half ton market with rebates, financing and incentives similar to the big three. I have no facts to back this up, just my guess.

No offense, but Your guess is wrong. Toyota isn’t taking over shit nor offering big incentives , not the way the company works

I agree with @Breathing Borla and they have never really done that with any model let alone their trucks. It will be seasonal small rebates as usual…I did get a 3k rebate on mine though. Deep down they know the Tundra will never compete with the big 3 in the 1/2 ton market. That market is saturated with loyal fan boys…not just Toyota fan boys as some will have you believe. You can pick off a few here and there but it would never really be enough to take a medal…

I am pretty sure the annual production on the Tundra is pretty much capped at 300k or so without building another factory, so even if they wanted to they aren't taking anything over anytime soon.

No way would Toyota design their all new GA platform to accommodate an ancient 3UR-FE and 6 speed from the Bush Administration.

For folks who want the V8, I am sure they will gladly show you to any leftover 2021’s or the host of 2nd Gen trade ins they will be getting.

Under seat rear storage will still not be available on the new C/M. I have been told by a very reliable anonymous source that this might be, but only on the top level trim packages...Stay tuned.

It wouldn't be precedent setting. Dodge/Ram has been putting the same basic 5.7L hemi, with a few updates/refinements, in their trucks since '02. GM has been putting the same basic 5.3L, again with periodic updates, since the Clinton administration.

You are probably correct. However, what else could they do that they haven’t done in the past, that would make it a “GameChanger “ or whatever they are calling it? Yes, towing will be impressive but, not much better than anyone else. Power will be up there but, won’t blow anyone away. Only thing they can change from the past that would be really different would be to manufacture more trucks and get them out there…. Hopefully we find out shortly, I have been holding on to my wife’s ‘17 Sierra way too long and can’t wait to trade it in on a new tundra!!!

Like the Hemi in the Ram and the 5.3L in the Chevy/GMC?

Toyota will be the only vehicle manufacturer WITHOUT a V8 option in their full-size trucks.

6 months from now I still think your resale value will be impressive, unless Toyota can ship enough trucks during a pandemic to meet demand.

I think the first year these are going to barely dribble out of the factory, and ADMs will be applied to every single one.
