Your question is kinda loaded.. Short answer is yes. Long answer is probably best to find out exactly what you want your unit to do and post in here for opinions. https://www.tundras.com/forums/audio-video.30/

Personally I am still stock but have read a lot and I think if I keep my truck long term I'll pick up the unit @DerfM installed.

Yeah, it can certainly be done. Generally speaking replacing either part of the system really helps out. For me, I wanted a better screen and wireless AA. I figured throwing money into the DSR1 to keep the stock HU was just more that could get me to what I wanted, so I went HU first. I'll get the speakers in a few months. My whole budget for audio was $2500 and I'll be close to that.

I should be getting this soon AAWIRELESS and hope that fixes the wireless android issue.....

But there are things such as the built in microphone, the button to "Call Sharon" and that stuff I didnt want to lose.

I am with you on this also. Not sure yet on the headunit but all of my installs over the years the headunit was replaced.

unless you are doing a DSP with some kind of equalization then replacing the HU is absolutely necessary to get great sound if you are adding aftermarket amps IMO - if you are just doing a basic DSP or LOC then you are stuck with bass treble and balance with the stock HU. So you will either need to spend money on a good DSP or HU. But just replacing the HU if you are keeping everything else stock should definitely help since you will get much more sound adjustments and effects to enhance.

I'm stuck with the jbl, and don't want to do a big upgrade. So I'm sound deadening the hell out of the truck, it should help alot. I got the back wall and rear doors today. It's funny, I can't figure out where the fuck they put the "sub" in here. There are some wires under the passenger seat that are on top of a rear vent, if that is the sub, JBL should go jump off a bridge because they have no self respect.

Finally had the tonneau cover installed… Undercover Ultra Flex

Ordered one month ago with the plan to install myself. The manufacturer sent the wrong brackets so I returned it to the local shop that I ordered it from.

The local shop obtained the right brackets and installed the tonneau cover at no cost!

CLEAN install even with the trail edition storage boxes. No damage to the boxes themselves and they remain useable.

If you deadened the back wall and didn't find a sub, then you don't have a JBL system. It's located behind the rear driver's side seat.

I use it for navigation and as a music server while driving. Occasionally look at weather information. I hope it is not illegal in this state.

The OEM radio doesn't have crap for adjustments. Changing everything out except for the head unit and adding amps is like driving a Vette with a Honda engine.

They are technically supposed to work with sway bar and others have gotten it to work including SDHQ where I bought them. The off road shop near me is incompetent and I didn’t want to deal with it anymore, so I just put the 2.5’s on. But if you have a competent shop they will work with sway bar.

Spent about 2.5 hours today washing my truck which included light pressure washing, clay bar, and 1st coat of griots garage 3-in-1. My first time waxing the truck and I bought it new almost a year ago. I havent waxed a vehicle in over 15 years ago. I will say the griots 3-in-1 makes life so much easier compared to the meguiars carnauba wax I used to use. Will take a pic tomorrow after my 2nd coat. The truck already looks good and I am stoked.

Nice cover! I got the Armor Flex as soon as I purchased my truck. Just FYI, the spacers near the clamps are supposed to be centered under the clamps. Gives it a little extra material to grab on to. I don’t have a pic of the instructions to explain, so I marked what I’m talking about in this pic:FA0F9369-7674-485A-A3F1-AE8686189D72.jpg

Installed the baja design squadron sport lights. I had the bd combo driving lights on my last tundra and kind of wish I had gone with those this time. With my lift I was concerned I'd be blinding people.

Very NICE! I did this several years ago and it is worth EVERY PENNY! Every Tundra should have one :) Entire trips on a single tank towing or otherwise. Total piece of mind when adventuring! Refueling stops are not for the impatient however. :)

Please don't crawl under your truck to find out for me - - I can do that on my own, but am exhaustingly lazy, so thought I'd see if you already know...

Does the bumper shim affect the bumper valence at all? Thanks @3rdTundra for the pic. I'll be adding a Valhalla's Shield front skid soon, after the CB 1/2" shims. I'm already mulling over in my head how to solve the valence slipping out 1/2" along with the bumper and still lining up with the skid.
