What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

The fire pit was clutch! We put it under our pop up tent and it kept it nice and warm underneath! Even roasted some mallows on it!

 

I've got a solid Brotard who has a real job, so he was unavailable to help. I've also got a Father-in-law and Brother-in-law that project with me.

It was a bitch to build. Me and the wife just kind of made it up. It's goat panel from the co-op painted black and cut to 8' panels. Then 4x4 posts for supports and 6x6 posts at the corners. Build-a-gate kit from HD for the gates on either side of the house. About 260' of fence, built for around $3800 in materials. And beer.

 

Used the same design for the deck railing.

 

Well if we're going down this road, here's my '08 Liberty I'm currently using to run my business. Visibility actually remains quite good too. But a truck and trailer will be a nice change.

 

I think the bedsides of a truck should be able to be folded down like a tailgate. Full access. Then a truck with a bed cover would be a great thing to work out of. I guess one of those decked systems or bed drawer setups work good too.

 

I'm considering doing a custom aluminum bed with fold-down sides. A buddy made one and will help me make one if I want. It really makes a lot more sense. The truck I'd ultimately have offers it, but those Land Cruiser trucks weren't on offer here and are hard to get.

When I replaced my spark plugs the other night I noticed that some of my ignition coils were in bad shape. I replaced the two that were really bad.
Per someone else's post, the Denso part is cheaper and it looks like they sanded off the "Toyota" logo and part number above the "Denso" name.

The Toyota name/part # shaved off and the 10R-034811 part number on the new one raises red flag initially. Do you still have the Denso box they came in ?
Also, was this an ebay purchase ?

 

And.... time!

That kicked my ass. Cut out lower control arms, new CV axle, new pads and rotor and caliper.

 

Everything matched up on both the coils except for the Toyota name and Toyota part number. I threw away the boxes (trash day today) but they were Denso, and came sealed from Amazon. Running great so far.

 

I believe the correct part is DENSO 6731303, available at Rock Auto for ~ $48

Cannot emphasize enough to avoid Autozone for brake parts (or most others too) - they are good for emergencies and fluids, but they seem to get the crap of the crap in other parts. Had to do an emergency (lost brake pad) brake job on a car on a Sunday. Yeah - they are open and have all the parts.

Good thing they have a lifetime warranty. In one week, I had to replace a caliper and rotor. Within 6 months, I had replaced every part I bought from them. Got sick of it and just ordered name brand parts from rockauto / Amazon and was done with it.

 

Yeah I agree with you. I bought rotors and pads from Advance. The frozen caliper was a surprise, and AutoZone is closer. One thing I'm concerned about is the dust boots popped of their seats when I bled the brakes. And I did not have the time to take it all back apart.

 

Learned that a long time ago after going through a 3rd alternator. Sure, lifetime warranty, but the labor in/out is on you. O'Reilly/NAPA or OEM for me. And of late, Rock Auto has been good. I don't even return my used oil to Autozone.

 

Off to a rough start on Jpinks DC. Yep, that's the wheel speed sensor broken off in the hub. #RustLife.
