I have the Dirty Deeds 8" kit with resonator on my tundra. I love the sound, and its true that there's not much drone up to 65mph. But there is some. And if you're going uphill there's more. I finally decided I was tired of hearing the drone while driving in the mountains and on 2+ hour trips. I am planning a trip to Colorado from Georgia and I can't handle that drone at 80mph.

My exhaust shop suggested I put a 22" big body magnaflow on there. It will be quieter than "what you've got" they say. That's going on today to replace the DD exhaust. Combined with the resonator that I'm keeping on, maybe it will be manageable. I'll try to get a part number so anyone reading this can have an idea of what I went with.

I am in the process of ordering a set of Badlanz cutouts. You have to get two of them because of the dual cats.

Updates to follow. First will be difference between 8" DD and the large volume magnaflow. Cutouts later.

I own both a 22 magnaflow and a 10 inch DD. The magnaflow only has a drone in 2nd gear at a specific rpm. Once you’re through that range it is silent

Cool. That plus the resonator should mean I'm smooth sailing on my road trips.

You won’t hear anything at cruising speed. Even climbing a grade it will not drone at all. It’s very tame just has a subtle deep tone on accelerating

Not trying to put down any product or services. But if there’s drone the Helmholtz resonator isn’t installed correctly. The system will have some exhaust sound. But not drone by definition.

that said, we have a lifetime warranty on the sound of our systems. Send back the old one for a quieter system rather than using a product made of way thinner material and lower production standards.

also, we used to make systems with cutouts. But literally every single system had failed cutouts and warranty issues. I have literally tried every single brand of cut outs. If you’re dead set on getting cut outs make sure they have a lifetime warranty and that you have block off plates to use temporarily while they are broken.

I’m always available by phone to answer any questions and help however I can. 760-877-4234

Thanks Keith, you're probably right about drone - I simply am tired of hearing any noise while road tripping, basically. I do dig the sound of the 8" standard kit. Maybe I'm getting old.

If you put an x pipe as far forward as possible. And cut outs as close to that as possible, it sounds damn good.

The larger magnaflow is super quiet but has some kick to it when you accelerate. It's nice for my old man ears. Cutouts are in the mail and won't be on until late next week probably.

The DD stainless steel setup is super heavy duty compared to what they have been replaced with. If anyone wants a cut 8" standard exhaust for cheap, lmk... the shop didn't even unbolt them, they just chopped them near the mufflers and put the new muffler on there. Based in Atlanta
