Good day all. I have seen other posts about rear end vibrations but they all seem to revolve around the drive line, certain speeds or acceleration, etc. I am feeling a rather faint vibration in my lower back while in the drivers seat. Plastic bags in passenger seat vibrate when carrying home too. I have a 21 TRD Pro with the Westcott front and CB +3 in the rear. I had 35x12.50 Nitto RG's and the whole damn truck shook like it was having a seizure. Replaced the tires, much to my disliking, to the 35x12.50 KO2's (harder tire, not a fan but cannot get tires anywhere right now) and the front end smoothed out. I have .25" spacers for clearance from the RG's and didn't take them off. The front end no longer shimmies but the rear end has a little vibration, albeit not as bad, but still present. I drove approximately four miles with the front right lugs loose and the rear driver side loose before we got back and tightened them. I have the carrier bearing spacer installed as well and the tires are balanced and the alignment feels pretty good. Any thoughts? The driver rear spacer is a little chewed up so i ordered another one. I did put on the rear sway this afternoon so it is a little more noticeable but it was there without it. Truck has 2500 miles and this set of tires has 300. Pics are with the RG's but don't want anyone thinking i am posing.

I would start with taking those spacers off. See if things change.

Rotate your tires front to rear, see if the vibration moves. A good wheel balance seems to be one of those things thats tough to get now days.

You know, I have the same issue on my 2020 PRO…it’s not crazy…but it is noticeable. I am wondering if it has something to do with the +3 shackles. I have the same setup. It puts our universal joints at a different angle. It would be a driveline vibration in that case. Just a thought.

    Blondey, Gravy and Weavin,
I appreciate the support and rec's. I've rotated and I have the spacers for the driveline done. That being said, i am going to pull the spacers on the rear and see what that does. I also will get a four wheel alignment at a shop i know. Other than that, i am unsure what to do. I'd like to think i will get used to it, but i am unsure if i can deal with it as it is. I will make the adjustments and see whats what and get back to all of you. Thanks again for the assist.

What size of carrier bearing spacers do you have in there?

What do you mean by this:

Do you have a block lift as well as the CB shackles?

My concern are the wheel spacers you have installed. I haven’t heard of any .25” Wheel spacers being hub centric. I could be wrong but I really do feel these could be at least part of the equation here.

    Classic mechanic questions:
Have you had it since new and did it vibrate off the lot?
At what point (after any change to tires, lift, spacers, work, etc.) did you start to notice the issue?

I have the same issue in the rear of my 2020 Tundra Trd Pro. I actually took it to the dealership and they were able to do a wheel alignment to spec and it helped but didn’t fix the shutter/vibration in the rear. I had 285/70/18 BFG KO2 and replaced them with 295/70/18 Nitto RG and it helped get a better wheel balance.

Make sure whoever does your balancing does a dynamic load balance. The junior techs at most places do static balances because they are easier and they don't know better, or they're just f^%$ing lazy. If it still gives you the vibration, take it somewhere you can pay them to do a road force (believe thats the name, costs extra) balance. But for all you with the vibration, make sure it's the wheels before blowing extra money. If the back is vibrating, move the rears to the front and vice versa. If the vibration follows the wheels, then you know its the wheels.

    Pete,
i have the one inch ones that came with the rear shackles from coachbuilder.

I meant the .25" BORA spacers i put on for clearance for the Ridge Grapplers to clear. When the BFG's got put on the drivers rear was loose and the wheel wobbling around chewed that one up.

I did not put a block back in the rear, it is just the shackles.

I ordered it new and it drove well when I first got it. With 500 miles i made the changes to the RG's, added the collar and shackles and it started pretty much the first time i hit 52 mph. it started to get more noticeable at all speeds since then. Since the BFG's were put on it still vibrated quite a bit but not as bad. I did pull the spacers this weekend and it decreased significantly. But like Weavin said, its not significant but it is noticeable to me.

Thanks Blonde. I did pull them on Friday and there was a noticeable change to the good. Having said that it does have a little shake still. I think it might be the +3 from CB. My rear leafs are basically flat at this point. i have the carrier spacer installed but now i almost think it straightened the drive shaft a little too much and its pinching at the carrier bc there is no variance.

I have +2 and ended up taking out the carrier spacers. Had a vibe but only under heavy load and or heavy acceleration. Around 0-15 mph.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a tundra that had the ridge grapplers and all was fine. Those wore out so I putt Atturo xt on there. They freaking blow and I had a terrible shake no matter how many places or times I had them balanced. So I bought the new recon grapplers. Had them balanced today, the owner of the shop said that’s the best and easiest wheel balance he’s seen and that he’s getting some for his truck now. Anyway, fast forward, took it down the high way and at 75-80 the wobble is back. Haven’t changed anything besides Tires’s. I have the shackles in rear and have the carrier bearing spacers installed. I’m lost on what to do. I did notice a bushing in rear leaf was kind of looking bad but I don’t think that’s the cause. The shake is bad enough you can see the passenger seat shaking. Front is golden.

I took it back to dealership and they noted that the rear tires needed to rebalanced with road force at discount tire where I purchased them. since I had already had the dealership do a alignment previously I was at a stump in the road. Tech at dealership noticed all the weights on rear wheels and mentioned to me that was a bad sign in his eyes. Bad set of Ridge Grapplers possibly. Since my tires had less than 7k miles i talk to discount tire and asked them to rebalance again for the third time! Third time didn’t fix issues. Since I had the certificates on tires I asked for them to replace them under warranty because they wouldn’t balance. The gave me push back… I pushed back and showed them paperwork from dealership and they replaced both rears. Best ride ever now like original Michelin AT. Hopefully they stay balanced!

That’s nice to know, but sucks that they show balanced at the tire shop and then somehow just suck when hitting a certain speed. I’m gonna take mine back to she shop and see if they can do it. Only thing that sucks is I ordered from Walmart and had a local tire shop mount and balance. Rides great all the way up until about 75-80. So if they balance again and show that they are good then I’ll contact Walmart.

The fact that the vibration changed that much with a tire change says a lot. I'd get them to do a dynamic re-balance and tell them not to slap all the weight in one spot. These bigger tires take a lot of weight and when these 20 year old whippersnappers just throw a wad of weight in one spot it's no wonder we get wobble.

Yeah for sure, plus spending 1600 on tires you’d expect a decent ride. Hoping it’s the tires and not my truck. I’m gonna rotate the tires to the front and see if it moves the wobble to the front. If it doesn’t then I’m afraid it might not be the tires.

I am concerned about installing the 2" SST Lift Kit after reading some forum posts. First question is if you had to do it over would you just remove the TRD suspension and replace with something else? I have replaced factory tires with 285/65/18 TA KO2 tires, this is my 3rd vehicle with these tires and yes, they are hard to balance. Our 2014 Trail Edition 4Runner has these tires on it and they are not wearing good. Enough on the tires, I really want to lift my 2020 TRD Pro but I don't want to go through the some of the headaches I'm reading about. Thanks for sharing pictures of your TRD Pro and they look great lifted.

Honestly once I got two of my tires swapped under warranty at Discount Tire through certification they have been great! Truck runs great and looks good! Ready Lift SST plus 2 is really a solid lift kit. Hopefully your BFG KO2 stay balanced for you.

I talked to my local Toyota Mechanic today that does the lifts, he states that this 2" will cause the camera's/sensors not to work properly. Has anyone had issues? Local Dealer is not authorized to lift the TRD Pro. Still considering it, just indecisive.
    Thanks

These trucks seem to be really sensitive to tires and balance. I finally gave up on LT tires and went with P rated tires. Replacing the rack bushing with aftermarket poly ones helped with my steering shake.

A 2" lift will not affect the sensors. I have a 4/2 on my truck with no issues.

Don't think I'd ever be able to slap P tires on my truck

Eh, the tire load index exceeds gross weight ratings of the truck. I'm happy to get the ride under control.

Edit: I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss my KO2s for looks though. I don't wheel my truck more than the occasional adventure on a camping trip. I went with Yokohama G015. I didn't have any control issues with them aired to max in the rear towing my 6500lb camper. 275/60r20.
