Well then. I won't complain about burning $200 in fuel for a day of running the rivers...

The boats we run up here are a bit smaller though. I'm looking at a 17 to 18 footer similar to this.

Lifetime experience. Dude is doing good will be out of the hospital tomorrow. It took 3 hours from our fist distress call for the evac to happen.

That’s crazy, glad he’s ok. I’m mildly trained, but I don’t know if I’d know what to do to help someone in that situation, let alone waiting for real help for that long.

I would think so. But i"ve got a friend that stuck a very large hook under a ligament in the back of his hand. We bound it with cloth and tape to keep it from moving. Started pulling in lines to go back. He said hell no the bite's too good, I'll be fine until later.we stayed out a while longer, until it became obvious it was bothering him more than he let on.

Yeah we have had hooks do similar stuff but heart attacks you can’t screw around with. After we heard it was a major attack and that the actions we took saved his life it became real obvious we made the right calls. No fish is worth that.

Laid the dude out on a beanbag on the shade side of the boat with a chilled rag on his head. We gave him aspirin and nitroglycerin pills. But most importantly we sent out a distress call and hauled fucking ass. We did 54 mph on the way back in 3-4ft seas.

    Great news!
My coworker Allen, the part time bee/honey go to dude, daughter recently retired from the CG. She flew a CG SAR chopper out of Miami. She loved the "job" but developed some stress related issues after 15 years flying. I can understand that.
