What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

That chrono gauge cluster was the tiiits.

 

Id love an older manual trans IS300, such a cool looking car!

 

IS does not ride like the LS. Plus, that V8 in the LS.....

 

Just found out the hard way that using the Viper fob to unlock my door sets off the factory alarm. Lesson learned.

 

Take it back and have them connect the “Factory alarm arm and disarm” wires to the appropriate wires in the truck.

Security and convenience were my forte in the car audio field. It absolutely baffles me how many installers only utilize 1 or 2 of the functions that a system is capable of. Lazy ass installers.

 

Oh yes, and my cousins IS is not stock so its a bit more firm than a regular IS. It is manual though and has been well cared for other than the fact can muffler and unpainted body kit. I can fix that fast.

The LS is the grown man car that I never wanted until I did. 386 horses and the 8 speed trans should drive nicely even though it weighs as much as my first gen.

 

What rails did you use for the camper shell? I want to do a full rack on mine.

 

Nice work. I put mine on a couple weeks ago. As far as what to put up there, I would say a raised rack and you can mount solar panels below it.

 

When i build my ladder rack, i might try to cut down the sequoia rack to fit my ac cab seams. It would be nice to have a basket that held containers, and the solar panal closed the cab basket, and do the cap basket seperate. Can it support an awning?

 

I put on the Rhino Rack RTC16 tracks. The 63" fit very nice on my access cab.

Finally replaced my rear bumper, love how it's color matched to my faded bumper pads.

Installed a new power port with an on/off switch and voltmeter on the passenger side and following PHMs lead, installed the LED puddle lights.
Both are cheap/simple upgrades... especially since I already had the door panels off.

 

I've started a refresh on some parts. I replaced my front rotors with stoptech slotted rotors and replaced pads with Toyota pads and replaced my spark plugs. The PO or whoever did the plugs didn't believe in torque specs for spark plugs. Half were tight and the other half wobbled when I stuck the socket down on them.

Old plugs - the back right two plugs had pretty foul ignition coils so I ordered 2 new Denso online and should be here in 2 days time (more like a week from now).

I also spent a little time today and figured out a way to secure a fishing pole using those new rail studs. I'm pretty happy with the final result.

 

When I installed my awning I did the same thing with my bolts on the inside of the camper shell. Used it to make a fishing pole holder. What is that big black rectangle on the inside of your shell on the ceiling?

 

I've noticed a lot of Leer and their subsidiary brands like mine have that same thing. I think it's a drop down bar that is intended to hang clothes hangers.

 

It looks like the only rear bumper support is just the tow hitch there. Since I’m interested in getting one, I assume that means I can toss out the rotted out bumper reinforcement on mine?

Apparently 5/16" fuel hose is not stocked well at auto parts stores. 8 bucks a foot! feel violated but needed it for rear diff breather mod. These are from a corolla. But they’re too much for the older ones. I haven’t figured out the source for the non vvti motors

Went down the Torque Pro rabbit hole tonight with the BAFX module. Did some searching for additional PIDs and came across an Ih8mud thread talking about Techstream.

So now my major question is… is it even worth messing with on our trucks? Some LC guys were reporting lots of programmable settings while others were reporting very few. I’m almost certain that even the most optioned out 07 Sequoia didn’t have a CANBUS system so I’m skeptical this would be of any benefit to us.

Well I know which I'd take. You had me at manual trans. Though that 2JZ and half a ton less weight add to the argument. Offer him some cash and tell him to go get his 4runner!

 

Possibly. These are just stuff I’ve collected from junk engines at work. A buddy’s going to clean and flow check them. Being they’re from 2 different engines getting a matched set may be hard.

 

I have cash but he's not ready to sell yet. I'm first in line on it.
