I went with Northstar. Odyssey, Xs Power and Optima are also good choices.

    Thanks for the advice!
My factory battery is 10 years old and is seeping slightly, last time I had it tested it still passed the load test.
That said I like the idea of a sealed AGM so I think that's worth the extra$.

    Function before sparkle.
How do you use your truck? If your usage is generally normal and you have had good success with OEM, get another standard battery with a good warranty. The extra money may not be worth it for you.

10 yrs?? Interesting. I'd go with Interstate lead acid and replace every 42 months, but that's just because I don't like to be stuck with trouble away from the house.

I replaced my factory battery with a Northstar 4 years ago. The reviews back then were really positive. It's been great so far.0424190427[2965].jpg

The info you need is on the battery.Resized_20210723_105245.jpg Size is 27- do a search on those numbers, it'll come up.

Just fell in the same boat today. My factory battery (4 years old) took a full shit on me. Drove it around today with zero clues that it was going out. Started strong every time until I came out from the store and it wouldn’t even click. I’m going to go with the interstate 27f. What’s weird is every search I do online the battery for my truck shows up as a 24f. My battery and every other one I’ve seen in a tundra is a 27f.:notsure:

Batteries Plus. X2 Power 27F AGM made by Northstar. 60 month replacement. Been using it for two years in AZ. Worth the money if lasts 5 years. Desert heat is a battery killer. If you can get much more than two years then you are doing well. Will see.

When you go to an AGM battery it may last longer if you boost your charging voltage slightly closer to it's preferred charging profile. I install a GM diode fuse (or similar idea) in the Alt-S location in my vehicles with AGM batteries, here's a link to a page that has the most useful and succinct information about the mod.

    GM Diode Fuse

Chitown4x4 description and how to except on our trucks its a 5amp fuse and the arrow needs to face the opposite direction as shown. They must be showing a 4runner or FJ cruiser.

I'm currently running an AGM Optima in my 2017 - looks to be a 2019 vintage, so I can only assume it's lasted at least as long as factory battery.

And I've got a pair of AGM walmart/autozone 24F's running as starter battery in my 2007 and house battery in the 2017. For around $200 they take a beating and still come back to full charge but neither is old enough to give a durability comment yet, ~2 years and 1 year.

Did you do any mod to your fuse to help charge the battery??

I've been running my NS27F for about three years and I have no complaints.

This. I added diode fuse as well on my first gen. Prior to doing the diode fuse, my voltmeter would read around 13.7-13.9v with the engine running. With the diode fuse, my voltmeter now reads within the proper range of 14.1v-14.5v.

This works too. It needs to be a charger that is "battery type sensing" or can be set to AGM for best results. Even though I have the alt-s fuse in my 2017, it sits for long periods of time so it gets hooked up to a Noco 2 amp trickle charger that keeps both AGMs maintained.
