I have a 2020 SX and needed a set of sensors for my spare wheels. The 2019 and up use a 7 digit ID number so my options where limited. I did not want to spend $200 on OE sensors. I found a set of sensor on ebay for only $40 with free shipping so gave it a shot. The sensors arrived and they look exactly like the OE sensor. I installed them today and programmed them with Techstream and they work flawless.

I've been searching for an answer to my question, this is kinda close (NOT REALLY) !

I have winter tires on steel toyota rims, if I buy genuine oem sensors , will they work? Or do I need programming when switching seasons? HELP !

If you buy the OE sensors they have to be programmed. Each sensor has a unique ID code and the truck has to be told that those are the sensors it has to read. The aftermarket ones I have bought work just like the OE.

If I do that , will I be able to switch back and forth without issue?

I believe this is for the 2019 and up trucks. For my 2020 I just program them myself everytime I make the switch. It's just easier. Get a copy of techstream, laptop and a obd2 interface ($20) if you want to make it easier.

If you deal with a local garage, they'll may do it for free if you bring it in. It's probably 30 seconds to program.

Mine does valve stem replacement, gives me fuses for my trailer etc. Or maybe I'm just lucky to have a shop that will do minor stuff for me for free, no appointment etc.

You can get a copy of Techstrean for free. :spy: Do a search on the forum for a copy. Works great.

    Use this adapter. https://www.obdii365.com/wholesale/new-tactrix-openport-2-0-ecuflash.html

Works great and will read all the data. Some other interfaces won't. It's the same adapter that OV tune uses for his tunes.
