Don't do it...I came from a 2012 Ram 2500 Hemi megacab before the Tundra. At 54k miles and 17 service visits I had enough.

This tells me that even the Toyota test drivers hate the chrome on the steering wheel.

Sure the tape is just there to cover up any concrete way of identifying it as Toyota, but I like to think they hate the chrome.

No they love chrome, and silver paint.

In fact I think an optional chrome plated dash will be an option.

It is like multiple people designed certain parts of the interior and Toyota did not allow them to see each others design. Then just slapped them all together.

I think it's a push to make lower trims undesirable and move them into spending more for the upper trims.

It’s an evil plan to not only make us spend more on the truck, but also allow them to significantly streamline production and lower costs.

SR5’s will not only have the dash in the photos, but the screen and head unit will be installed in such a way that you can’t change it. No Android Auto or Apple CarPlay will be offered, and the only functions available will be notifications to apply for food stamps, and constant voice directions to STD clinics near you.

All trim will be either painted silver, or bare greasy looking purple/black plastic. Seats will have only fore/aft adjustment and seat back angle adjustment. Crank windows only. Both drivers side, and passenger side grab handles will be deleted but the mounting points will still be there reminding you that you’re a peasant or a tight wad who only sprung for an SR5.

The only available engine for non Limited and above trucks will be the 2GR-FKS currently doing duty in the Tacoma, with the 6 speed auto also currently serving in the Tacoma. These truck will also have a 14 gallon fuel tank because Toyota assumes people who don’t buy the top trim can’t afford to buy more gas than that at one time. Headlights will be old sealed beam units to save money.

By adopting this strategy Toyota is confident they can only produce a few of these trucks the first year, and then drop the lower trim level completely.

I don't believe that is a picture of the Tundra interior. If you compare it to the picture posted in #15 (official Toyota release) there are a couple of items that don't line up. 1st - the curvature of the dash over the instrument cluster is different. 2nd - the grab handles are different. Can't imagine Toyota would have 2 different interiors depending on trim levels. At this point, I just don't buy it...

You very well could be right. The OP’s photo doesn’t match the teaser from Toyota.

Leaving my constant sarcasm aside for a moment, I have a tough time believing Toyota would develop and produce two different styles of dash, screen mount location etc. That just equals more R&D costs, more tooling costs (injection molds are horrendously expensive), more complicated logistics, and more variation on the assembly line. If Toyota is good at anything it is controlling costs, and two almost completely different dash layouts is antithetical to that.

I doubt it, the Tundra will be much wider and has never shared Land Cruiser interior styling. I hope you’re right though, I have always though LC interiors were a cut above normal Toyota standards.

don’t you just love the classic Toyota North America styling lol. They plan things out years in advance, and always play catch up. Never thinking creatively. Sweers has to go.

Toyota did say they’re “in it to win it” though.

Despite all my snarky poking fun at Toyota, Toyota fan bois, 2020 and 2021 owners who hate the new truck, and myself at times for being a dumb ass (believe me I am…): I still secretly hope Toyota crushes the new Tundra. I hope that 30 minutes after they release specs that we all go from Sweers “needs to go” to “Mike Sweers: patron saint of awesomeness!”.

I’ll pass my judgement when we see what the actual interior of the tundra will look like. But maybe these leaked pics of something will get Toyota to release more information sooner..

Don't worry guys, even if the leak is representative of the SR5 trim, or some equivalent, there will be interior mods available--especially if it's this hideous :sawzall: :smash: :welder:

Most interiors are. I have always thought Toyota interiors were inferior to the majority of their competition. This one unfortunately seems to carry on that theme.

Right, definitely looked to still be in “test” mode as with the rest of the camo’d pics.
