Hey all! I hope someone can help me out. I had my cats stolen from my 06 DC in a hotel parking lot. I spend a lot of time on the road and I need a good solution to keep the new ones safe. Of which I am still waiting for a month later.... Not seeing much in my quick browsing.

If it was me, I'd create a circuit that ran along the top of the CATs & exhaust using CERAMAFLEX thermocoupling wiring (rated to 2200F) that would set off an alarm in the event the circuit was cut. Maybe an air horn that would blow out their ear in case they were underneath with a reciprocating saw. :D

The last plate that for sure guards you cats for a first gen that I have seen was from OR Fab. No longer being produced.

If you dig around and look for pictures of the skid row trans skid plate it might offer protection, but I haven't seen one installed lately. Some members here might have them and maybe can post pics. @FirstGenVol ?

You might have to get one custom made if that doesn't work.

I’ll try to grab a better pic but away from Hulk til next week, and found this on the build thread.

Did you look at SkidRow Fab’s internet pics, probably better into than anything I post.

I actually don't have the last 2 plates they offer. My oil pan skid plate stops at the crossmember so the cats are still exposed. I'm guessing that the transfer case skid would cover the cats.

Hard to tell from this pic that Casper posted.

This would be even better if it lowered on top of them while underneath. :D

Sorry to hear about your cats getting stolen. I had mine stolen from my 3rd gen a few months ago. I guess thieves don’t care what gen they’re stolen from. OEM cats for 2nd and 3rd gens have been backordered til who knows when. So after waiting and waiting I eventually went aftermarket.

Anyway, if 1st gen anti-theft skids aren’t offered by a vendor, I’d suggest having a local fab shop custom make one for you. If there are no automotive fab shops near you, you might want to check with a local welding shop to fabricate something.

Also, check to make sure the fuel or brake lines weren’t cut. When I checked underneath mine, everything looked ok except for the cut O2 wiring. Aside from the loud exhaust, my truck was still driveable although I rarely drove it just in case. After getting aftermarket cats and new OEM O2 sensors, though, the check engine light still came on, even after clearing the codes. Turns out they also cut the EVAP purge and fuel lines up near the exhaust manifold, although the latter only had superficial cuts - but still posed integrity issues. I’m getting those replaced right now, but it’s scary to think that the line could’ve eventually failed and caused a fire while driving. Just thought I’d mention that as a precautionary check.

I think it's a good idea to have a plumber save you some used reciprocating saw blades, then have your muffler shop weld them along the pipe in a few places.
