Always about work ethic and good discipline than the physical possessions. You could turn around and light that car on fire but you can’t take away things like work ethic or discipline nearly as easily.

Yessir - and to be clear, I'm not saying that others who don't buy vehicles for their kids are wrong, or what have you. In fact I'm *GLAD* my Dad didn't buy me a vehicle...I had some growing up to do and some tough lessons to learn - lessons that honestly could only have been learned by me buying my own vehicle.

Totally agree. Bottom line is you gotta do what you gotta do. We all grow up differently and that’s okay!

I agree……but my daughters “job” right now is to keep her straight A average. She is a rising junior in high school, has a 4.0 gpa (unweighted) and was accepted into early college program where she will graduate high school with an AA degree from the local community college with guaranteed transfer to most of the schools she wants to go to. She wants to go into neuroscience. She is paid to cook dinner for two sets of neighbors twice a week and picks up occasional babysitting. Provided she keeps her grades up and picks up some of these odd jobs to help put gas in her car and have some “fun money” she can use the car we bought for her…..

My grades were good enough to have scholarships pay for my entire engineering degree. Still had to buy my own car.

Oh she bought half of it - with her savings account that has been collecting from birthdays and christmases, etc. She saved all of her money and never got into fashion or material things. We used that money to help pay for the car but I paid half, pay the insurance and gas to and from school.
