I have a Kenwood DMX1037S and use Waze through wireless Carplay with an iPhone 11 Pro Max. The Kenwood has the latest software as does the iPhone.

I've had the DMX1037S installed since last Fall with few issues. Every now and then when using Waze/Maps/Google Mas with wireless Carplay the GPS was not accurate - typically it would have my truck positioned about 100 yards to the right of the road but still traveling in the correct direction at the correct speed. Sometimes this was temporary and it would correct itself during the drive and other times it wouldn't correct itself until I restarted the truck. I could go months without any problems.

In the last 2-weeks Waze, Google Maps, and Maps have become completely unusable due to the GPS being completely inaccurate. Some days it shows me 1/4 mile from my current location, traveling in the wrong direction, sometimes not moving at all, and on the wrong road. At one point I was driving to RI and the map was literally spinning in circles for 4 mins.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Has anyone figure out a fix? Any help is appreciated.

Did you install the supplied gps antenna that came with the headunit?

I think it’s a problem with Wayze? Or is it all map apps.

It happens with every app that uses GPS and is Apple Carplay compatible when using Carplay. I should say my iPhone and these apps have never ever experienced any issues with GPS while not connected to Carplay.

I've got the 1037s, no problem with Waze on wireless Android auto.

I'd pull the head unit and make sure that you connections are correct.
If you or a friend have an Android phone, try that so you can figure out if it's the phone or the head unit.

It worked with only the occasional issue for months and it still works fine sometimes. I believe Carplay will not work on the 1037S if the GPS antenna is not connected. I'm going to try using my wife's phone to see if that makes a difference.

Eliminate the easy ones first. Try an Android phone and report back.

I'm also using the factory gps antenna, not the one that came with the Kenwood.
Where did you mount the Kenwood GPS antenna?

I used the factory antenna. I only use wayze. The only problem I have once and a while maybe once a month. Is that Olathe wayze doesn’t update where I am. Like it’ll start directions from where I turned on the car. I just have to restart the app tho.

I’m having an issue with this as well. My location is accurate but the speedometer in Waze updates with severe latency. Driving 45 and stopping at a red light at a normal pace has me stopped with speedometer still reading in the 20s. It’ll update about once a second until finally reaching zero about four to six seconds after I came to a complete stop. I’ve installed the latest Kenwood update (1.7.003.1100). I’ve tried both the factory and supplied antennas with no difference in behavior.

If I disconnect the GPS antenna, it works fine. I’m guessing because it’s using the phone GPS. Wired Carplay works without it, but wireless does not. I have the issue using wired or wireless CarPlay. I hope it’s not the Kenwood GPS module.

Another annoying feature is this is inconsistency in automatically showing the front camera while parking. If that feature is keyed off the reported GPS speed, that would explain why it comes on intermittently and often too late.

Sorry to jump into the Tundra forum but here's my conclusion.

I own the Kenwood DMX 1037S as well. I didn't have the issue upon initial install. But, ran into a wiring issue and lost power. After fixing the wiring issue, and re wiring/installing the unit wireless CarPlay never worked right again. GPS would show me going the wrong way, going over 100mph when I was doping 60mph. It's literally so random. It keeps me within a quarter mile of my actual location. ( I haven't tested wired CarPlay though )

-The same issue happens with Android.
-The same issue happened after updating from iOS 17 to iOS 18
-I’m on Developer Beta software on my iPhone, the issue still persists.
-We removed the provided GPS, and installed a newer Kenwood GPS, still didn't fix the issue.
-We placed the GPS in various locations in the vehicle, issue still persists.
-Removing the GPS completely kills Wireless CarPlay.

I’ve had this issue for about 8 months. If anyone has a resolution in their own vehicle. PLEASEEEEE LET ME KNOW

there are two connections that fir for the gos antenna ; make very sure that you plugged into the right one. If not, you will get the exact symptoms you describe. The same thing happened to me and I was SURE I plugged it in right. Finally took the dash apart again and pulled the head unit to find that it was plugged into the wrong connection…..

I have a similar issue with the Kenwood DMX 1037S. I use the factory GPS antenna via an adapter.

Most of the time lately, CarPlay won't work at all (not even wired) because it says the GPS antenna is not connected (but it is, and has always been).

Last weekend I decided to reinstall the factory head unit using the factory GPS antenna to see what would happen, and now the factory head unit's map shows me a few miles away and heading in the wrong direction!

How can I troubleshoot the factory GPS antenna? I can't even find the thing.

When I reinstall the Kenwood, I plan to try the aftermarket GPS antenna just to see if it makes a difference.

Any further thoughts on issues like this? It's bizarre.
