I have an opportunity to put down a deposit on 2021 TRD Pro Crewmax and trade my 2019 Limited Crewmax I really like my Limited however I don’t want to pass up this opportunity. My Limited has the 20” wheels vs the 18” on the TRD Pro. Have never driven a TRD Pro and wanted to ask about the difference in handling and ride quality.
    Thanks

I mean, it will still lose value once things stabilize, so you're still looking at a loss if you're treating it as an investment. Is the deal at MRSP? Have they made a trade in offer on your 19?

Yea it would not be really an investment just a little better resale. The trade offered is more than the MSRP was in 2019 so will not be hurting on the trade in side, however unfortunately the purchase price would be MSRP so with everything said I would be doing just a little better than breaking even plus trading up.
I hate to look at paying MSRP however my 2019 will probably never be worth more than it is at this moment. Decisions?

If you’re financing you’re gonna be paying another 5 or 6 years on the new one. The other one is closer to paid off

    Thanks
I have driven several different trim models in the Tundra’s but never have driven a TRD Pro. The question I need to answer is if the TRD Pro would be worth the trade.
I just came across this opportunity when someone backed out of a deal and thought I would look into it.

I drove a 15 SR5 TRD, loved it. While I was waiting on an oil change a salesman said "hey, wanna drive this 19 Pro?" I was like "screw it, it'll kill some time while I wait".
I ended up buying the Pro because of the ride. On road, it can handle bumps and potholes much better than the SR5 did. Off road, I can blast down shitty forest roads at 50 MPH. I actually ended up running over a tree branch on a forest road at high speed, and shot it thru my rear bumper.

It does lean a lot more in the curves than my SR5 TRD did, so much so that I have to slow down a lot more on the freeway ramps. I added a rear sway bar which helped substantially, but neutered the soft ride so I took it off.

To sum up, it handles bumps well, but it leans more in the corners.

Thanks for the information. I have heard that the the ride quality is good. I think I would enjoy the Pro just need to weigh out all the advantages and disadvantages.

You could always put an aftermarket suspension system on your limited that would make it ride like a Pro.

Just chrome delete, a set of rims and buy the fox shocks from dealer, and you got a limited pro tundra

I'd go for it, the 2020+ TRD Pro's are built off of the Limited trim, so you'll have all of the same creature comforts - and a really nice ride. I love my 2020 Pro. I'm actually surprised they're offering the 2021 Pro at MSRP, that's rare - especially in the current climate.

What will it “cost” you - difference between the 2019 and the new 2021?

Personally - I’d say 8k or less is a good upgrade - over 20k is a waste. Your moving up 3 years and miles. I know that’s a big range - but just a guideline. If your somewhere in between - that’s when the choice varies more on the buyer - but low is a no brainer and high is giving away $$.

You can “make” your 2019 have a Pro level suspension (or better) if you throw enough $$ at it.

I like the Pro suspension vs the Limited - felt it’s was a tad smoother on bumpy roads. That said - it’s not night and day. It’s still gonna drive like a Tundra - neither is a car like ride quality.

$699 for AT upgrade ?? I’d pass - what’s that get you ? Toyo’s that cost a grand a set themselves. I don’t hate the OE tire - don’t love them - but they are decent and not like they will change the handling that much.

If you plan on off reading - you will want to change - but I’d simply take off the stock and swap - trying to sell the take offs for 650 and moving down to $500 if needed. Being willing to ship/ sell on eBay will help a lot and even at 699 shipped - unless your sending ti the other side of country - you can sell and clear 500 I would think…clearing 500 nets you 200
more than letting the dealer swap them out.

Hard to put a value on never having to take your key out. Had one on a car, traded it in for a ‘19 CG Tundra SR5 and QUICKLY realized how much I despise keys. Not the only reason I went to a TRD Pro but a welcomed fringe benefit!

I know it is a benefit you really don’t think about. Can add the tailgate power lock for even more of an added benefit.

Love the pro, it lacks the extra features of the limited but the ride is great.
