I've pulled mine off, but that was to put Katzkins on in their place, so I wasn't afraid to cut up the stock ones a bit. I would say just find a local detailer that can run a deep cleaner over them.

Thanks guys. The upholstery has zippers but at the back of the seat I hit hog rings and that the spot I can’t get past. Plus with two young kids and no garage I got no time for any of this BS.

going to take another look and also see how much new covers cost. Maybe it’s cheaper to put new covers on than give it to the detail guy.

You can disconnect the hog rings by twisting with some lineman's pliers. You'll obviously need new hog rings and hog ring pliers to put the covers back on, though. I wouldn't think a detailer would charge a ton for seat cleaning, but you could also rent a spot cleaner like @Winning8 posted and do that yourself.

I would imagine the time to take off the upholstery, wash, and put back on would far exceed the time for this “bs” lmao

I would try to steam clean it, before ripping it apart.

    Agreed!

That said, I've pulled the covers off without ripping or breaking anything. If you get the hog rings and pliers it's not as terrible as it seems. If not, a good ziptie would also work but it would be tedious. It's a good hand workout for sure. The rear seats, at least on the CM, are exponentially easier than the front seats.

You can have it cleaned or do it yourself and then do a chlorine odor bomb.

Spray with simple green and shopvac behind, kinda at the same time with a spray bottle in one hand and vac nozzle in the other. Will have spearmint scent after.

Guaranteed the smell is deeper than just in the cover. A good steam clean will at least get down in the cushion a bit.

Once you get into a groove and get used to the plastic "tongue in groove" parts and hog ring manipulation it goes quickly. I have a DC and did the small seat first. Took me maybe 30 min to remove the covers and a little longer than that to install. The larger part of the seat went even faster because I had it down.

I reused the hog rings and used a pair of needle nose and regular pliers.

I pulled the seats and placed them on cardboard inside the house where the AC was nice and cool.
