Still in its infancy, but I'd best be getting this thing started as there's a lot planned coming soon! Welcome to Hotshot Offroad's '21 Tundra build! The summary will be kept in post #1, but any chatter and "build" can be found throughout. Enjoy!

    CHROME REMOVAL HAS BEGUN

Color matched door handle swap - COMPLETE

@MightyTundraGA & @GatorBodine As promised, I am editing the video now of the swap. I recommend budgeting about 90 minutes in total and probably employ a second set of hands. Other than that... No big deal!

What are your thoughts on the DD Max fogs? I feel like they would overpower the stock LEDs.

You mean the stock LED headlights?

They absolutely overpower them. Given the intended use case though (lower speeds, maximum width, etc) they are excellent at their job.

Yea I meant the LED headlights. Valid points. I have the PROs on my 4Runner, but also have an HID retrofit that's significantly brighter than the Tundra LEDs. Not sure which ones I'll get for the Tundra yet.

Looking forward to seeing this build come along, looks like you've got good plans already.

Here's the best I can guide you on selection if you are waffling between pro and max... If you are looking at the white color temp there is a pretty large jump in output between the two, plain and simple. However, if you go yellow (which I and others have) the difference isn't quite as great. The Max emitter only comes in a 6000k emitter so DD had to use a darker yellow lens on the Maxes to bend the light to the proper color temperature. As a result, the bump in output over the Pros isn't as large as it is in the white variant. Don't get me wrong... They're still coconuts.

Additionally, the Max has a crisper cutoff. It uses a smaller emitter than the pro and as a result ends up with more crisp cutoff lines on the road ahead. I personally prefer the sharp cutoff of the max. If someone is looking for the best option for the money the pro is still best there is IMO. However, if you want the BEST... There is currently nothing that I am aware of that outperforms the Max.

I could take some pics if you would like of the output to show you how powerful they really are.

Yea I think the yellow is better all around. I’m in Colorado and live in an area where I’m frequently on unpaved and unlit roads. During the winter, which is when I use my fog lights the most, the yellow is perfect. The white light is ok on the snow, but yellow is far superior.

The Pros were challenging to get right because of that soft cutoff, so that alone may push me to get the Max this time around. No need to make a special trip for output pics, but if the opportunity arises in your day I won’t complain.

Just take a drive up to good ol' Montana and I can show you! I have them on hand too so I could just send you back with a set :laugh::cool:. You'll definitely want to go Pro or Max though as they're the only ones that will get hot enough to melt all that Colorado snow and they'll remain clear.

I'll see if I can snag a pic or two next time I'm out though.

I don’t get up to MT often enough. Great place!

Good point on the heat for snow/ice melt too. Didn’t think of that.

Cannot wait to see the progress of your build!
Not sure if you have read up on the icon tubular UCA issues on tundras, but after dealing with and replacing the tubular ones I wish I would have went with the billet ones.

To include the Delta Joint variant? EDUCATE ME

I've heard some mixed thoughts on them from just grumblings, but once the tech came out I had myself convinced I wanted to try it.

The tubular ones (both uniball and delta-joint) have less caster than stock arms, icon revised their instructions in 2018 adding a note that the tie rods need to be cut shorter. This is to help get in alignment specs. The billet arms are adjustible and can be adjusted after installed. The other UCAs that are adjustible after install are the Element and the SPC brands.

Weeeeelllll hell. I'll go read the instructions then. Appreciate the tip, because imma need the adjustability. Surprised I never tumbled to this info, honestly. I had SPC UCAs on my Tacoma and they were good. Nothing to look at, but they did the job.
