I got summoned to start working from the office again last week.
So, my new routine has been:
Up around 5a to eat and hit the gym
Back around 7. Eat / shower / shave / prep my meals to go
Leave around 9 for the office.
    At office by 10
    Work until 6/630.
    Leave
    Home by 645-730 (pending traffic)
    Eat
    Say hi to the kids
    Watch tv with the wife
    In bed around 10/11
    Rinse and repeat

Haven’t had a full day off (meaning zero calls / texts / from work) since November.

Recipe for burnout if you're not one of the guys whose career is all important. I hope things lighten up for you a bit.
    Everyone needs a break.

I’m pretty damn hard to break, but it’s beginning to annoy the wife and I. And; as we continue to grow- it’ll only get more complicated

I have no doubt that you can handle it, but nothing makes a job miserable faster than never getting a break. That's why I got out of any kind management and have avoided it since. In my area and the places I've worked it's never worth the pay. Crunched the numbers at one job, and at $8.35 an hour (long time ago) I was actually making more per hour than our assistant manager. She had more annual income, but had to put in such stupid hours that it ran her hourly wage into the dirt.

Anyway, whether you can take it or not, I hope things ease up and you get to start enjoying life. You're too young to let it fly by.

I almost think about taking a step down to an high hourly position and out of this as I cannot seem to catch a break and it's more stress than its worth at times.

Nobody on their death bed ever says "You know, I wish I had spent more time working." I didn't used to take vacations until somebody said that to me. I'm glad they did.

Put my truck on the street so the AC repairman would have room to work.

That's actually awesome of you. Lots of people just make the service guys park far away and pack tools back and forth.

My condenser is also around the same side of the house/driveway as I park on. Not much space to get around this beast and to the side of my house, especially while carting tools and refrigerant.

Indeed, I am on days. The sympathy is appreciated, but I'm not really surprised that I can't sleep. Is what it is.

Well, I was wrong. I tossed and turned and couldn't sleep until my alarm was only 40 minutes away.

After it went off I snoozed it, and then turned it off after that five minutes... I woke up in a panic after that because I felt like I had slept for hours.... 3 minutes. I slept for 3 minutes, and it was the best 2 hours of sleep I've had for a week.

Has anyone ever used the red panic button on the fob for a real emergency? Or even know anyone that has? I just woke the neighborhood up when I leaned into the truck and my keys pressed against the red button. Doesn’t matter where the button is on the fob or how well reset it is into the fob. You never accidentally hit the lock or unlock buttons…. Always the red button.

Of all the chit Toyota has removed from the Tundra over the years to save a few bucks…transmission cooler, sliding rear seat, the 6th lug…they still think this wake the neighbors button is mandatory!?!?

You get a like for this nugget of truth.
I disagree with the broad statements that Toyota is removing things solely to save dollars.

The transmission coolers were phased out when the regs on refrigerant changed, and the new stuff wouldn't be effective. Yes, they saved money by not doing a redesign for what was supposed to be the last 2 model years of the Tundra, but the impetus for the change wasn't about saving money.

The sliding rear seat was done after collecting info from customers on their preferences. Sweers said he preferred the sliding seat, but the votes from consumers were heavily slanted toward a fold up seat and a cargo floor. Where they cut corners on this was not doing new seat brackets to actually get a flat load floor.

6th lug... meh. If you want to spin it, you could say it was a safety thing. The Tundra is rated for greater loads than any of the 6 lug vehicles, and this prevents people from putting wheels on that aren't rated for those loads simply because the lug pattern fits.

I'm just saying that I don't think Toyota did any of this to try and save money. What they did do to save money was run the same basic truck for over a decade. The other things all had other factors at play.

I always tend to hit the unlock button, luckily. My wife's Corolla is way worse for that than my truck, though. If we take her car somewhere, I have to find a place that's not my pocket to stash the keys.

Total respect to your response, but my 20+ years of experience in manufacturing at large corporations suggests otherwise. I’m willing to bet a giant plate of sushi that the engineering teams have annual goals to reduce production costs. Unless you are raising rates, this is often done through product simplification and manufacturing optimization. Remove a feature to save part and manufacturing costs is sometimes the easiest solution, especially on an ancient platform like the Tundra that has already been squeezed for years.

But that digresses from my original rant. The red button on the fob is worthless!

Total respect for your experience here as well, and I would be inclined to agree that 99.9% of the time your scenario is the case. Toyota has a very different company culture, though. If you've not seen this, it's worth watching just for some insight. They do things that other companies would never do.

I like my red button. I hit it when I see a coworker walking by my truck on the security cameras. :drevil:
