Just curious but why not put the bikes on the bed and add hitch mounted storage? Just in case of somebody rear ending the truck. Probably depends which is more valuable I suppose.

There are two roof boxes side-by-side with a 1up in between so I can take 5 bikes. The two boxes will hold more than a hitch-mounted box and we bring much gear with us. This is also modular. Although I'd like more 1ups to put bikes on the bed when I'm not camping. That and I've had the rack longer than the tundra.

How does that affect your ability to access the bed through the Diamondback? Seems like the mounting system would prevent you from opening the panels.

I does. You can't open the cover with either the bike racks or the boxes. That's why I got a bed slide (there will be no crawling into the bed for me.) I also have a swing arm for the bike rack to get it out of the way if the bikes are on it and I need to pull out the bed slide.

EDIT: you can see the bed slide in action here:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/camping-overlanding-thread.11105/page-28#post-2320363

You can't see the hitch swing arm on these pics but the with the bikes off, you can see the gear out.

Ah, I see the pictures - very nice setup. You probably have more money invested in your coolers than you have in the rest of your setup combined, including the truck. haha

lol. Ya, the Yeti's are sweet but aren't cheap. You just have to wait for the REI 20% off any single item sale and it will only cost you an arm OR a leg rather than both.

I just went with the knock offs, and haven't regretted it. Picked up a couple RTIC's, and then found this company called FrostedFrog, and picked up a 110qt for under $300 and it's worked great for us.

The RTIC are made as well as the Yeti but wasn't around when I bought my 75 and wasn't available in Canada anywhere when I bought the 45 (they had lost their patent case by then for ripping off the Yeti.) I have a friend who has the RTIC 65 and 45 and we did a couple of tests with the 45's to see how well they did. They perform the same. Literally the same. If the RTIC is available around you, buy them. Use the money saved to fill them full of beer 3 or 4 times.

I haven't heard of Frosted Frog so I can't comment there.

Yah, I did a bunch of research when I was in the market - and came to the conclusion that pretty much every rotomolded cooler is comparable in performance at this point. Found Frosted Frog and decided to support their small business.

Nice setup! I am making a custom bed rack so I can attach a roof box over the bed just like this. My current box is a Thule, unfortunately it's long and I will need to step down to a shorter box. What Thule is this? The Sidekick?

Force XT in a Large. Its connection points slide well to the front or back. My old one had to be put on backwards because it goes to a point at the front and that point touched the back window and couldn't be moved back.

Thanks! It's nice to see a similar setup to what I am thinking. Not too many people run cargo boxes over the bed like this!

Sorry for the delay. Was out at the beach for 4 days with friends.

    That's on my Tacoma.

I don't see they have one for Tundra.

My dad welded something up for the Tundra though. Let me find a pic

Integrally suppressed barrel .22 bolt action? Slick rig!

Also, what seat covers are those? Look simple but effective.

Sadly no suppressors up here in Canada, that's just a heavy barreled CZ 457. Insanely accurate, shoots .6 MOA any day (and I'm a terrible shot).

Seat covers are saddlecloth, pricey but incredibly durable and comfortable. I found them in the oil patch when every pickup had them installed, now all our farm trucks have them too. Seatcovers.com out of Calgary AB ("Westerner" style).

I have that same CZ, but with the walnut stock. Probably close to the same optics as well (6-24x50 Viper HS-T). What ammo do you use (presuming 22LR...)? I've narrowed to a few - Aguila Super Extra gets me to just about 1MOA, but a fidgety disposition typically gets me to 2.

    Follow-up from this post.
Had it on for a day and got a CEL this morning. Before my commute home I put the original back on, then went to Autozone to get the code checked and hopefully cleared. Apparently it should clear itself once the problem is corrected. I'm getting the OEM replacement tomorrow, hopefully the code will be gone by then and I can have it click like normal (still not sure why it doesn't anymore).

Besides the CEL the locking cap seemed goofy, it wouldn't consistently unlock and seemed to require a lot of force to when it did. Reading reviews they seem hit or miss.

Nope, I figured I'd try it as a precautionary thing since I was replacing anyway as the stock one seemed to not be working right (stealing cats now, maybe next stealing gas?). Turns out it's hit or miss like a lot of stuff off Amazon. I'll just use the OEM and carry on.

Bought a knockoff that broke so went with the real thing this time. The original seems so awkward after having this one.upload_2021-7-13_21-28-33.jpg
