What a great way to spend a Tuesday! Curious:
Did you use a fixture table for accuracy? Been debating getting one from weld tables.com - they seem to cost a bit, but I can see where they are invaluable.

weld table, square, tape measure, and a fair share of alcohol.

If you are doing fab work for a living and time is money I would say that is a great idea (or if you have a bigger budget than I…which my kids have that beat..lol) For the guy that has some time, and knows after the first rollover the chassis isn’t going to be square….

Do you do fabrication? Let me know if you get a table and how you like it.

My wife wants to get a plasma table for ornamental metalwork. Might be able to work this in the “necessities” lol

Just fab my own personal stuff. The tables are very heavy if you haven’t checked them out. I contemplated getting a lighter weight one from Eastwood, but they just seem flimsy. Current dilemma is, I discovered the cross-slide vice from HFT, and after doing some higher-control drilling man, do I want a mill! A man and his dreams. I see you’re a Miller guy; just MIG or multi-process?

Oh boy. Here goes my man card.

So my wife wanted a shop, 30x40. I didn’t due to not wanting to stay in Colorado. A good plasma table is pretty spendy.

I thought this was a done deal and “I won” in my mind.

Should have built the damn shop. I am now balls deep into this “I could have had a shop plus a lift/plasma table/room to park…” patio project.

    1041E6C5-2AC3-47C2-8D70-8E8B3C3305BB.jpg

So I wouldn’t ask me for advice. I FUBAR’d this one.

I seen how heavy those are. DAMN.

    Red/Blue/Yellow…no matter. :D

I just MIG at home. I built this fold down welding table and it has been great ever since. EC5A0309-92E3-47E9-A66F-6C4374F7CAB4.jpg

My workplace has all the tools I could want:

Mills, lathes, plasma, TIG/MIG if I need them.

I’m starting to get into doing my own handrails as well.

We got a quote for 5500.00 for handrails, 4 steps, powder coated. I’ll be into this for 900.00 completed.

Tell me about it. I have 8-9 more years if we are being honest. I retire in 3 years when I turn 50. I will have a junior and freshman in high school.

Good for you, seriously. But what are you going to do for insurance at 50? I've been financially able to retire for about 5 years, but can't find insurance the doesn't break the bank.

    Great question.

Part of my retirement is medical that will cost me 350.00 per month. My wife works for the same organization so it will be the same for her. She retires 6 years from now. Here is the tricky part….insurance for our girls in college. Now that’s going to be a little more, but since they are young and will have their own policies it shouldn’t be bad.
