Anybody in the DC area with a At Overland Habitat setup? I’d love to see your setup and check out the space in the tent itself. Can’t find a vendor anywhere near me so this seemed a good option to see one in person to decide if I want to buy it or not.

Hi, Great rig! Just wondering if you still have this set up? We just bought a 2018 Tundra and are looking at the Hawk. We are a family of 4--2 yo and a 5yo. How has this set up been for you? Anything you would change or have changed? Thanks!

 

I put a deposit down on an AT Overland Summit a couple weeks ago. Should be done late July, maybe early August at the longest. Decided on the Summit because I will be doing all season camping and didnt want the Habitat in the snow as I hear it is hard to close when frozen. Super stoked. Now just got to figure the bed out. Probably going to do a 80/20 build out back there for my fridge, stove, solar and house batteries.

 

That enclosure is huge man.
Did you get a windoor on the driver's side of your shell?

 

Yeah it’s a huge amount of enclosed space. It’ll be awesome in the rain or you can stake it out for an awning (or 3).

no windoors or windows (front / rear / side) on my habitat. It’s all solid. The only option I got is the roof rack, mostly so I can use it to hang stuff on when it’s opened.

 

I ended up with no windoors also. It will be different coming from a GFC but I'm not sure I'll miss them much. And when the truck is finished the way I have planned I don't know how useful the side doors would be anyways.

 

That was my thought. The truck is tall enough i think it would be hard to use them anyway. Depending on where I park, I can have a hard time reaching the habitat to get the support poles connected (I’m 5’10”). I now keep a stool with me just in case

 

We just installed a new FWC Hawk on our 2020 Tundra. Tires, airbags, and cradles only upgrades at this point.

 

I just joined the forum and upgraded from my '02 Tundra (northstar slide in camper) to an '18 CrewMax 1794 TRD. I am looking at the same AT Habitat as @shellshock and wondering if a Prinsu roof rack would fit underneath it. I also thought to have the Habitat painted with bed liner.

 

I think it would fit. I’ve got like 6” from the roof of the tundra to my habitat. I’ve been considering putting a rack on mine but havent gotten around to it yet.

 

Where are the rest of the AT Topper owners? We just ordered an AT Atlas, scheduled to be completed at the end of the Summer

 

Got mine on order expecting it in June. (AT Summit) I think I’ll start a new post that we can all talk and share our bed build outs. I wanna make one that’s a pull out kitchen yet still accessible from inside for winter camping. Working on my lighting and battery set up. Will post once it’s completed.

 

I have a prinsu on my 21. It’s lower then the shark fin on the back. I actually had to not install the rear two cross bars. Still figuring out how to custom one for the back. If you don’t have the shark fin and still want a rack just specify AT to build for the tundra 2019+ model at so it has the clearance.

 

Just got my 2012 FWC Granby mounted on the 19 DCLB (ADS 2.5 w/custom Alcan spring pack).

So nice. What size tires and any lift?

 

Thanks! Tires are 285/75-18, stock rims. Front bumper is spaced 1/2" forward with Boss's spacers. Front has ADS 2.5 coils with Total Chaos UCAs, rear is ADS 2.5 extended with an Alcan 2.5" custom leaf pack.

 

Order placed for Four Wheel Camper Raven shell last week in April. Told to expect it around this time next year! That is a long time!

It is a shell version with: Eezi-Awn 270 degree bat-wing awning, 160 watt solar system mounted to Yakama roof rails, dual deep cycle batteries, furnace, king size bed, thermal pack, dual Maxx-Air powered roof vents and back-up camera. Plan on finishing it out as I want it with custom storage and water system.

It is awful waiting. But it gives me plenty of time to get the truck modified to where I want it, get the interior sort of spec'd out and study maps.

I'm super thankful for the wealth of knowledge this site has provided. I feel pretty comfortable with the truck set up I've got planned. If I could just get my suspension and wheels to arrive. Been waiting almost 8 weeks already.

 

That will be a sweet setup for sure. My neighbor just put a deposit on a Project M and was told 9 months, it's crazy. I waited 8 or so weeks for everything to come together with my suspension so I know your pain. There is a crazy amount of information in here. I'm assuming you've been over to Wander the West as well.

Are you happy with the rear set up with the Alcans? Any desire or need to add air bags in addition?

I ask as I am going with the Old Man Emu 2.5" Dakars with an extra Add A Leaf. I believe this will be adequate. I am guessing your 4WC is probably heavier than what my Raven shell will be loaded.

I ask about the airbags as I'm concerned I might need them. I will be traveling 800 miles from eastern OK to Denver to pick up the camper. From there I hope to do a 3-4 week Rocky Mountain states trip.

I really like the look of your truck - it is exactly what I am hoping for in lift and stance with the camper loaded. Just right in my opinion.

That Granby is in EXCELLENT condition for almost 10 years old. It looks pristine.

Let's hope that your neighbor's wait time of 9 months will be reflected in my wait time - even thought they are different beasts in complexity. Perhaps they have improved their initial estimates. When I ordered in April they said to expect 12 months. So I just added on another 6 weeks to help me from getting too excited. I figured I give them about 4-5 months and then ask for an update.

 

So far they're incredible and I don't see a need for airbags yet. I had a fully loaded FWC Eagle on my DCLB Tacoma with Dakars (w/AAL) and have airbags on that. Since you're going with the shell the Dakars should handle that fine. You can always add the airbags later if you feel the need. If you do add them be sure to get the Daystar Cradles for them.

Thanks, I got lucky finding the Granby on WtW from the original owner in AZ before the used prices went insane. They took really good care of it.

I know the FWC is working like crazy to keep up with the backlog. I had to wait a couple weeks to get in there to get the roof struts moved from inside (old style) to outside and upgrade the solar panel. Hopefully you'll be under that year estimate.

Sorry last question (for now, LOL). What brand/model of tires are those and are you happy?

I am initially thinking of going with 295/70-18 Cooper S/T Maxx. But those 285/75-18 look nice and I know just around 35" diameter.

Any issues with fitment in the front? I will be using SPC UCA when I finally get my OME 2.5" suspension/installed.

And if you would like to add any more pix that would be great. Appreciate your insight and advice.

 

No problem, they're Cooper Discoverer AT3 XCT Load Range E, just under 35. I have Coopers on my Tacoma as well and I'm really happy with them. No issues with any rubbing, I was able to leave the OEM mudflaps on as well, although I did remove those silly little front ones when I installed the bumper spacers.

Here's the front suspension.

This was at Alcan when they installed the leafs and rear ADS (still on stock tires). I was still waiting for the front suspension to arrive.

 

Ha. I love the super stink bug look with stock wheels no front lift. That could set a new trend since the reversed "squat" got banned.

The picture you posted way above with the camper mounted settled just perfect with still a rake to it.
