Gave the wheels the ol’ Rustoleum treatment today. The factory finish was gone and oxidized as all hell. I roughed each wheel with 600 grit, primed, then finished with flat black. They aren’t perfect by any means, but better than what I had prior to. I also like the flat black look on most vehicles. The chrome lugs don’t bother me for the time being.

Your truck looks amazing. These trucks look so damn good with 35's. I'll do it someday.

The lack of fender flares also makes a big difference.

Appreciate it, Erik. It’s definitely a good looker from 20 feet away. Any closer and the shit box quickly reveals itself.

Hopefully the kit shows up soon. I’ve got this sample still in the cup with a ziploc over it.

Gotta zoom in on that rear bumper everytime I see it. How is it supported/attached at the ends closest the wheel well? If possible, a pic would be great. I was fabbin mine up similar but haven’t added the side pieces yet. I really like how clean the bottom of the body looks all the way around your truck. It’s like the bumpers and sliders cap the bottom.

I can grab you a few pictures tomorrow. It has tubing supports that connect to the mounts. I welded a couple tabs behind the bedsides to keep them from flapping in the wind.

While im not a huge fan of the grille, the bumper trimming is top notch.

I can't even find the original post. I would trust but verify. Check the fuel pressure at the rail yourself. It's possible the pump is bad and obviously most of that quote is labor costs. If I didn't care about holes in my truck I would do like you and cut into the bed floor and save a lot of $$$. Easier access in the future. Pretty common to see on Jeep XJ's too due to where the pump is located.

I would also check the electrical specs on the wiring going to the pump and verify they aren't the problem. That way you don't just install a new pump and still have the issue and end up right back at square one.

It's a nay for me. The wide vertical lines don't seem to get the aesthetics right for my eye; they're drawn right to it immediately and nothing else. Nice looking truck though.

I appreciate your honesty. Its just one of several ideas I’ve been playin with. I always liked those types on old hot rods and not sure how I feel about it on the truck, is why I am asking for opinions. Before I junk it all together, I’ll probably see how it looks painted black, might not jump out so much. Then again, that defeats the purpose of the concept. Idk

NP. And I agree, there are some applications for that style where it just looks "right" (e.g. older hot rods/40's coupes) and sets it off. This is one of those subjective things. Whatever works for you. We're all just trying to express ourselves the way we want. You could just lay some black tape over it first to black it out rather than painting it. That way if you don't like it blacked out you don't have the headache of stripping the paint off.

And what are those wheels off of? I do like those for something I've been working on in my head.

My old man was building one of those hot rods you speak of when I was a young boy (‘37 Ford coupe cab w/rumble seat). Spent alot of time at car shows and I always thought the vertical grills were cool cuz they looked like teeth. Tape is a good idea. Didn’t think of this before but there’s also a peelable coating that comes in a rattle can that would work as well. The wheels were made by Weld Racing, and were all polished aluminum, until I painted the center caps black. Only info I have on em is that they were discontinued before I got them used and that was in 2008

I knew those wheels looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on the manufacturer. Thanks.

Not really. I could potentially move the mount to a different spot, and then tilt the camera to the left which would diminish its appearance. I don't think it would go away completely

Looks too BMW. Next thing you know you'll quit using turn signals and bumper humping people if you install that.

Drivers side in all it’s rusted glory. Hopefully this gives a visual on what you’re needing. I copied Sean’s bumper build for the most part, with minor differences in materials / tools used:

They’re my favorite wheel made by Toyota. Perfect size for these trucks, and perfect wheel/tire ratio off road. The flat black will certainly get beat up from trails, but makes for cheap touch up as needed.

    None yet.
Since the weekend- Swapping in 5100s for both rear and front, cleaning off years of mud, upgrading the front brake lines with full flush/bleed and replacing the sway bar links. Waiting now for the front shocks to get reset into the OEM coils so I can finish the install.
