Looks good @1lowlife that is the exact style look I'm going for. I have an MGM Tundra also.

So how hard was the install with splicing the wires and everything since you have the dimming LEDs? I want to do the same thing. I have zero electric skills but I can follow directions and follow along with a video. Just may take me a lot longer to install.

 

No experience and no splicing requires. It’s plug and play basically, really simple and easy to do tasks. It’s took me literally under 45 minutes.

If you want OEM twin led drls on bright during the day and dim with the lights on, @iHacker has a harness for that.
I believe you have to run extra wiring into the cab to accomplish the diming down feature with the headlights on..

If you want the OEM twin led drls on bright all the time, @iHacker has a harness for that too.
I think that option is plug and play with no extra wiring.
I could be wrong on that.

I also believe there is some kind of amber DRL delete mod, not sure how that works, it didn't interest me.
Not sure where to find it.

I don't like the bright OEM twin led drls on during the day, I prefer the amber DRLs.
What ever harness he already makes, not sure which one, gave me what I wanted with no additional wiring or repining of sockets...


My 2014 halogen headlights already had the amber DRLs, they would dim down with the headlights on.
No LED strips in the headlights



I then bought the 2019 TRD Pro LED headlights, that have the OEM top and bottom LED strips, and @iHacker harness.

Just installed on my 2017 Pro. Took me about 3 hours end to end, works great!

 

This project is much easier than I initially thought. My only regret is not doing it sooner! Thank you everybody for all the help!

 

@iHacker Hi,new member but have been lurking these boards for years. Interested in ordering harness 2014-2017 1794/Platinum/2018-2021 SR5 (Trucks with single LED DRL and halogen headlights) $100 for my 2015 platinum.

 

That was the one that I purchased. Works great and super easy. I did zip tie them connectors together as suggested for the peace of mind.

2014-17 TRD PRO/SR5/LIMITED Non-Dimming LED DRLs (Bright mode all the time) $110

Non-Dimming Harness (Bright DRL All The Time), This option is 100% Plug n Play no wires to splice or mess with, no firewall wire or any sort of wiring under dash besides the Amber DRL Delete (optional) but the LED DRL turns ON/OFF with ignition and stay at full brightness all the time (not like factory functionality which dims the LED DRL). To power the LED DRL in this option we go to use a fuse tap to replace the 10A IGN fuse in the hood fuses box. Price for this option is $110 shipped to U.S. addresses.

 

FINALLY got this done.

I received my set of TRD Pro headlamps but, the right one was cracked on all the mounting points.

Had to return the damaged one and wait almost 2 weeks for a replacement.

I wish I had done this when I replaced my grill and surround. It’s not fun tugging at the grill In any case it’s done and everything works perfectly!

Like others before me, the harness is better than OEM quality and is 100% plug and play. I wish the headlights didn’t require so much dismantling of the front end to remove and install them! Next are fog lights for sure!

Don’t mind the dirty truck. It’ll be washed once the sun cools down!!

I have a 2014 Limited no LED DRLs. Swapping to 2019 TRD Pro LEDs.
Just want the simple plug and play harness. Not worried about the dimming part.
Been needing to freshen up these headlights!

 

ihacker is the man! so easy to deal with and responsive. i ordered the dimming harness and the trd pro blacked out headlights (Sparks). I took my time and don't have any electrical background - was nervous about working inside the dash with the wiring but with the pics/videos and patience was able to posi tap the grey wire to maintain the amber DRL with the LED (did not de pin the grey wire). I had ordered a mix of posi taps prior to the install (

POSI-TAP Assortment pack wire connectors 10-22 awg …

Got mine in the mail today! Looks like great quality. Headed to the cabin for the day tomorrow so hope to get the new headlights installed Wednesday.

 

Ihacker. I would like a harness for my 2014 Tundra SR5. I want the diming option. Mine came from the factory without the LED DRL.

I might be late to this party but here it is.
I was in a hurry when i took the pictures but you get the idea. I'm very pleased with the results. Thanks to @iHacker for the very quality good product and great costumer service. It's still a work in progress, gotta make some time to go to the local shop to get the bumpershellz paint it and no more chrome.

 

Anyone know if you can make the led strip amber instead of white??

 

It can be done if you find the LED boards replacement but let me tell you isn’t an easy task because this involves baking your headlights to take them apart and replace the LED boards.

I recommend you to check for Morimoto or Alpharex headlights I think they made a headlights option with amber DRL instead of the classic white

@iHacker, do you have any interest in producing a harness for the 2014+ trucks that would enable a "turn as tail" function?
The aftermarket taillights are to me.. Anyway, I thought I'd ask if you have the know how and time to do something like this.

 

I've baked eBay headlights before for a 1st gen tacoma retrofit but those where alot cheaper then tundra headlights lol

 

Well if you find a LED board conversion you have the retrofit experience required to take your headlights apart.

I haven’t heard of any available for the 2018-2021 headlights

 

Don’t have any plans for that but you probably can achieve that using a rectifier diode so the circuit can be isolated from the blinker signal but still receive the tail light signal (resistors might be required as well if a fast blinking is detected)

 

I appreciate the response, but I'm an electrical dummy. That was all kinda Greek to me.

I am still rocking the stock incandescent taillights and I was just hoping to be able to make both bulbs illuminate as tails. Stock setting makes it look like I've got a burnt out tail light.

I know there was mention of somebody else working on a harness for this over in the morimoto taillight thread, but I don't remember who they said the company was. I thought our local Harness Guru might be a go to for a solution.

 

The problem to create a plug and play adapter is that we don’t have a specific plug to mate with the turn signal and what we have is just a dead end in the taillight assembly, that’s why the only way to do it is splicing directly into the factory wiring and most people including me try to avoid this at all costs if possible

Bummer that it'd be something like that. I had hoped that, because the one bulb does nothing but the turn signal, it would be as simple as adding a harness between the two bulbs. Hacking up factory wiring is too much risk for a purely cosmetic change.
