Kewl....another 40K miles before worrying about TB or 2 more years if you go by Toyota Maint Guide of every 108mo(9yr) , if they did a good job and used quality products(OEM preferrably)

Time to replace the bed and treat the frame.

 

Coated frame isn’t necessarily the end of the world but you do need to know the full extent of the rust. Products like por-15 or chassis saver works wonder. I’d be concerned about the boxed section up front.

That looks like a really cool system, but would be cumbersome for multiple bikes I think. Our local trails are about 20-30 mins away, so at least once a week my friends meet at the edge of town at 5:30pm, cram into one vehicle, and head out for a quick ride. The hitch pad is perfect for this, but I think a low rack would make that tough.

A hard cap might work, but I think getting 4 bikes over the tailgate becomes tricky from what I've seen. Maybe a rolling tonneau cover and a ladder rack for the canoe is the best solution to all my use cases.

 

Turns out it has been to a dealership quite a bit, just no notes on frame treatment or replacement.

Side note: ball joints done at 120k, so that's good for awhile eh?

 

It's a Christmas miracle! I found one color matched, in great condition, w/ no rust, just 30 mins away for $1000! I only found it because I discovered one of my headlights had broken mount tabs so I went a pulled one of those.

 

Wow there barely any rust! Left springs look good too!!

 

Yeah, I'm half considering tearing down my rear before I buy the bed to see how many other things I should add on to the order. Would require another transport though.

 

Might be worth it. I have an 06 RWD SR5 the same colour as yours. Love everything but the damn rust!
