Is there anything you do every day that enriches your life or helps you manage your day better?

I start every day with two cups of coffee outside on my front porch, or in my living room easy chair staring out the front window if it’s too cold out. Best hour of my day, usually.

First thing I do when I log in for work is update the bank ledger and check on bills to be paid and other upcoming expenses. This usually gives me a pretty good handle on other stuff that comes up throughout the day.

Oh, how could I forget. Every day also includes a breakfast burrito that just gets better and better the more I make it. I do one egg, about two eggs worth of egg whites, 3oz of ground beef, turkey, or shredded chicken, 2oz mushrooms, 2oz onions, 3oz mini bell peppers, 1oz fresh jalapeños, 1oz guacamole, 1oz sour cream, 1/2oz shredded cheese, and salsa, all wrapped up in a homemade flour tortilla I get from the Mexican market at the end of my street.
THAT might be the best part of my day.

I get up at 4am, put in contact lens, put on gym clothes, mix up pre-workout supplements, take my Rx, eat some protein and fruit and then feed the dogs.

Then I go to the gym for 2 hours of Crossfit and shoulder rehab then hit the shower. I eat more protein and fruit on the way home. Then I make breakfast for the kids, clean the pool and check the chemicals.

I head to the basement to start work at 8am.
I run a distance learning business so first up is grading exams and creating completion certificates.

Lately I make myself a latte I guess (1 shot of espresso, 2 oz of milk, half teaspoon of raw sugar when I feel fancy) and I go to the backyard with my dog to water all the plants while I drink it. Then we take a 20 minute walk so he can poop. When we get home I give him breakfast, fill my water can and head upstairs to work.

The hour it takes from the time I turn on the espresso machine to the time I'm filling my water can is very relaxing.

After work we (dog and I) head downstairs to watch an hour of TV, then by 5 when my wife is off work we go for another walk before dinner. I forgot how having a dog can help you relax and this thread making me think of what my routines have become makes me remember, as corny as that may sounds.

I do the breakfast burrito every morning also, but with sausage/bacon, hash browns, eggs, salsa, and pico.
My relax time is when I get home, I sit in my shop with the dogs for a couple hours and hit YouTube or tool around.

The morning is so relaxing. What kind of plants do you have? I’ve never had much of a green thumb, but for the first time in my adult life I actually have enough of a yard to do some landscaping.

walking the dog every day is something else i reeeaaallllyyyy need to be better at. We’re both (especially him) getting fat.

I have had a black thumb all my life but it turns out the soil where I live is great and the climate is forgiving. I went with mostly tropical looking plants. Several variations of canna, 5 variations of fruiting banana, 2 non-fruiting banana, a jujube, a papaya, a chirimoya, lots of begonias, corleas, plumerias and who knows what else.

Some before and afters, most were planted last year. When I can I do enjoy hanging out back there and having a beer, appreciating the plants.

Do my eye drops, get a cup of coffee, do my business in the bathroom, go for a run or walk during the week. Weekends maybe a walk with wife. Shower, eat breakfast then do tasks around the house. Tat 3 or 4 it’s time for a beer to get ready for dinner. I don’t know how I ever had time for work.

Up at 4am. Check news, emails, and other blah stuff. Rarely eat breakfast during the week. Get my grandson up. Get to work at 5:30am. Put grandson on my office cot until 8am. Wake grandson up and drop him off at Boys & Girls Club. Go back to work. Work thru lunch. Off at 1:30 unless I want some OT. Prep dinner. Pick up grandson before 5pm. Drive back home. Maybe have a beer before cooking dinner. Maybe have a beer after dinner while grandson takes a bath. Get grandsons clothes ready for the next morning. Do laundry if needed. Maybe have a beer. Read a book for my grandson before bedtime. Hit the rack. Repeat until Friday. Go to the mountains early tomorrow to get some mushroom hunting in. Not much rest but my grandson enriches my life so there is that! Not bad for being 65...

Depends if I'm at work or on days off. I work out of town 14 days then come home for 7.

    Work:

Up at 0530, crank out some pushups, chug water, shit, shower, maybe shave, toss my lunch in my bag and head out the door. I don't eat until 0930 or so and I get free coffee at work.

    Home:

Up at 0600 - 0630, bug The Woman, get shut down, bug her some more, get ignored, go take a leak, say good morning and fuck you to the cat, make coffee, find laptop and open Tundras and youtube, browse until the cat wakes The Woman up, figure out what we want to do for the day. I usually get a workout in later in the morning while she's have her coffee and wake-up time.

I really need some more routine, good routine, in my life. Covid adjustments in everyday life have really upheaved everything lol. Lately, my days have included too many old fashioneds and not enough exercise or conversation. I’d like to change that. Maybe call my dad a couple times a week.

I've been going 5-6 times a week for almost 2 years now so I'm in much better shape than I was, but that's not saying much. I did almost no exercise to speak of other than short stints of regular running for the 10 years before I started.

I spend most of my time every day learning how to move properly and rediscovering all of my 20 year old injuries that were never properly rehabbed. I have to scale almost everything that's not mono-structural, but mono-structural movements are where I catch up with everyone and maybe get a little lead before the next round.

    It's a work in progress.

No time for that nonsense. ;) By the time I get the kids in the bed at night I'm nodding off before I can finish responding to text messages. I've got just enough left to pack up everything I'll need the next morning and I'm down for the count.

It kind of annoys my wife when she wants to watch a movie before bed. I don't make it past the first few minutes.

I take this bum for a 3 mile walk almost every morning. Hearing the birds chirp and watching the sunrise is a nice way to start the morning.

You guys who put off starting work to do things you want in the morning might be onto something here. Especially @drobb , paddling sounds like an awesome way to start the day. Think I might need a bigger board though if I want to let this guy tag along…

Diet Mt Dew and a smoke when I leave in the morning. Diet Mt Dew and a smoke when I leave work. Weekends have no structure, whatever needs done gets done. In the summer a lot of times one of my daughters or my niece will call and say we're coming over to use your pool. Me, I'm painting the shed or whatever. Them, we don't care, we just want the pool.

I was a bit sick last Thursday. Watery eyes, sinus sneezes. Took the day off. Wasted a PTO day. Hadn't been sick in over a year. Still drove down to my property last Friday morning. Set up camp. Tried to have one cold beer. Drank half. Hit the tent before 6pm. Felt better the next morning. Today is my first beer since then. Grandson was patient zero. Got my landlord's wife sick about a week before we left. Brought on a migraine in combo for her. I got the crapola crap. All is good now. Sort of.
