Hey everyone. I finally found a Lunar Rock CM and wanted to trade my 2016 Tundra SR5 4x4 54,000 miles 1 owner no accidents.

I know this truck is becoming somewhat hard to find so I can understand them not wanting to play ball on the MSRP but I feel they could hook me up on the add-ons. Plus the trade in assessment was a joke @ $29,000. I've had other dealers offer me $36K.

I've attached truck pricing and the otd price. Looking for advice. Thank you.

My guess is the other dealers who offered more did not have a LR in stock...correct? Check CarMax, etc ...that might be a better route. But in the end, the dealer knows what they have and if you don't pay their asking price, somebody else will in short order. I personally don't see the fascination with LR and would never pay a premium for any color, but to each their own.

I love LR. but my pocket book is more important. Again, to each their own. I was thinking the same, the other dealer did not have an LR for sale

Correct and not even bothering with ordering. Apparently Southeast Toyota is finalizing Tundra deliveries and final trucks are on their way (not sure if true just what I was fed).

Why not just sell to Carvana or other dealer, and make a deal on the LR without a trade?

Yea that is the way to go or just sell to the dealer who offered $36K already, thanks. I was really hoping they would hook me up with the add-ons at least. Plus they are trying to add an additional $999 delivery fee.

Yes, I also saw that grand pure profit in the deal. I always make the deal and get it in writing before I even head to a dealership. Clowns will keep you all day trying to wear you down.

    My thoughts are as follows:

    - Truck price itself is fine.
    - I’d tell them to drop the dealer prep and give the accessories free - be prepared to negotiate this…the accessories are basically a tint job worth $200 and floor mats swapped for the Pro mats - tell them to keep em and give you the stock mats. $200 is fair for what they are doing. There is no “admin” fee and most states it’s between $300-800…it might not be allowed in your state - so I’m gonna call $500 “fair here”

    - The trade - 29k isn’t stupid low…others offered you 36k…when and on what conditions. There’s a big difference between saying - “I’ll give you 36k cash in exchange for the title today” and “I’ll give you 36k towards my new and over priced new” or a “your trade may be worth 36k” postcard.

If you have a 36k cash offer - and want this truck - tell dealer take 2k off the ticket and give me 36k trade or just sell me the truck for cash and I’ll keep my old one and sell it on my own. If they balk - tell them to do better and be prepared to live with not getting what you want.

Bottom line - values are easing a tad, but demand is high. It’s not as if you are the only buyer - any dealer can easily sell a new Pro or dealer swap it out in a day. Most want local buyers and good trades to maximize profits. If you want it - price is fair and just need to trim some of the fat from the extras.

The trade - can’t value without physically seeing the truck, but if someone’s offering 36k - take their offer if it’s legit. Not like Pros are that difficult to pull right now at sticker - you might be waiting 6 weeks worst case - but they are out there.

Last check I had locally - no more LR in the supply line. What’s being made is allocated and only black and white remained with a few to distribute. Guessing it’s similar everywhere by now.
