Ok so I've swapped my grill on my Tacoma to a pro grill and the aftermarket garnish worked just fine. So I'm confused why if doing the swap on a tundra you have to get the oem garnish vs the cheaper ones? Like is it an issue of material or thickness? I bought a 30.00 one but still waiting on my truck. If the thickness is an issue couldn't one use a Dremel tool to grind down the inside plastic to make the part where the sensor sits?

It’s not that the aftermarket ones won’t work… I’ve been running one for a while and have had no issues. But there’s a liability you accept any time you mess with safety systems. I think most people err on the side of caution and pony up the money for the OEM garnish.

Yeah see I've searched and a lot of people said the aftermarket one didn't work. But yeah I get that.

Bought the cheapy and it threw the code after 20 mins. Tried for a a few days with poor results. Shelled out the money for the OEM and no problems since.

Nice truck I got the same one coming. Mines and off-road so I bought like a combo deal of the pro grill, surround and bump in army green. That'll take care of all the chrome except the corner bumpers

Welp the aftermarket one threw a code after like 15 mins of driving. So guess I'll try tweaking it and see what happens

Same here. About 500-1,000 miles and no issues thus far.

I bought one off Amazon to see if another one would work. The color is off but so far it's working. So guess I found one.
