This. I got a 2020 SR5 CrewCab 4x4 w/the SR5 Upgrade and TRD Off-Road package last year for 41.7K, and that includes a lifetime engine warranty. Given this, and the fact that EVERY similar truck was easily several grand more, it wasn't worth it to me.

And yeah, as much as people complain about the Tundra sag, it was far worse (at least mine was) in my last F150.

That’s the beauty of ordering a truck. You get what you want and not what the dealer wants to sell you. Takes longer but worth it in my opinion.

Absolutely! However the multiple salesmen that I spoke to gave me the same BS about not being able to order during COVID. I spoke to a dealership in Vermont that was willing to order what I wanted but they were 4 hours away and I had a trade-in…was not worth the effort. I guess it’s a regional thing…

Did you have the 4.6 in your previous F150’s. That’s a solid engine in my opinion and I know those things can take a beating.

I was surprised when my BMW R1200GS dyno tested at 105hp at the rear wheel when the engine specs were 105hp. Not the most powerful MC, but moved me along.

I think it depends which mfr you are checking wrt stated HP.

The same can be said about resale. While the Tundra has the best resale, is it enough to sway the purchase decision? For me the answer was no on both reliability and resale. It came down to price. I was just able to negotiate a much better deal on the Toyota than the Ford. Others may have a different experience.

Pretty sure the 1200 boxer has 125hp at the crank...at least my R1200RS does. 105 at the rear wheel sounds about right.

I did, in my 2004. I had very few issues with that truck, to be honest, but the dealer was a pain to deal with. The 2013 had the 5.0L.

That was another question I had. What were atmospheric conditions like for the runs? Anywhere in the northern hemisphere is summer time and it is probably hot outside far northern latitudes. A quick look at average humidity in Bahrain shows it is similar to a lot states in the Midwest at around 67%. Didn’t know that, I always assumed it would be much lower over there.

Again a nice result and hopefully fairly representative of what we can expect out of this engine even during summer operating conditions.

Yea but you're talking about a Wethead 1200. He never specified what flavor 1200 he was talking about. He might have been referring to a Hexhead or Camhead.

So one thing I didn't realize I guess is that the current Gen tundra doesn't have all the off road goodies the 4 runner and Tacoma have available. Make that one more thing I hope is available on the 2022 version. I'm 99% sure that it will be available

I hope they start offering metallic paints in colors outside of grayscale. And at least offer an optional mechanical LSD like the 4runner/tacoma get in the Off-road packages. The Pro version should also have front and rear lockers, but baby steps are Toyota's way of life so that might wait until the 5th gen!

I hope and expect to get the full suite of goodies, lockers/MTS/crawl control in the TRD OR and PRO. Just like they offer in the Tacoma and 4 runner. It would be crazy not to do that.

We can hope. On the plus side, if they still want to program the transmission to seek out higher gears as early as possible the new engine making gobs of torque everywhere will make it less annoying.

Bahrain is an island and Dubai is on the coast, they're both really humid. I've spent a fair amount of time in both and it's oppressive about 10 months out of the year. It's like being in my home state of Mississippi but 10-20 degrees hotter.

I never spent any time in Bahrain or Dubai.

Instead I got to do Iraq, and come to think of it anytime we were close to the Euphrates it always seemed muggy and hot. I suspect the local humidity there was high as well. I don’t miss Iraq at all for a variety of reasons, and climate is one of them.

You are not sure GM makes a 6.6? They make both a gas and a diesel 6.6.

No, a catch can for the 6.6 gas since it is direct injected.

David Chao over on Automotive Press put up that Toyota was taking orders (fleet maybe?) Sept 1 but wasn't releasing the all the models and options to the rest of the public until the end of Sept. 2021.
The Chicago Auto Show is in what 10 days or so? ...can't believe they wouldn't reveal all there as it's getting pretty late in the season already with not much news...

I know. Someone was not aware that GM made a 6.6 liter engine. I mentioned nothing about the catch can just the engine size.

My 1200gs was 2008 vintage, the newer models had more hp. I do not remember all the details over the years. I used to inadvertently pull a little air under the front tire when getting on the highway. During the bike demo days, they let you take different models of bikes out in a controlled ride. Yeah, controlled, I remember doing 80 keeping my spot in the line of bikes on the 40 mph country roads. That really got the adrenaline going, especially merging onto I5 in Tacoma.

In the comments for his click bait video he also said that he had "more interior shots" and "forgot" to include them. He had ZERO interior shots, and was showing the interior of a different vehicle. Any information from Automotive Press is worth less than what you paid for it.

Yes I quoted someone mentioning a catch can for the 6.6 gasser. my question was that I didn’t know anyone designed a catch can for it yet and that might be of interest to me since I drive a 6.6 gasser.
