I was looking to get a 2021 tundra SR5 and I was wondering how the bed comes without adding any add on's? Is there any type of paint protection?

No protection is standard. The beds are painted like the rest of the truck.

A lot of dealers or regional distributors add the sprayed-in bedliner (similar to LineX).

The rubber mat is a good add on, with or without the sprayed bedliner. It's around $100 and well worth it, in my opinion. Stuff won't slide around and it helps with impact protection if you drop material in the bed.

I love the combo of a spray-in bedliner with a rubber mat. I've pretty well come to consider the rubber mat a personal necessity. As said, keeps things from sliding around.

I like the Dee Zee bed mats.

I got it with the spray in bed liner, I need it for work.

I like the Bed Rug. Has held up very well through a lot of abuse.,

Is there any chance a bed mat on top of a liner can cause issues down the road? I had line-x put in to my previous truck and I put my rubber bed mat on top. Over time the line-x started to bubble up, I wonder if the bad mat could have held moisture between the liner and the mat causing the issue? I miss having a rubber mat but have held off buying one because of this.

I purchased the rubber bed liner the rubber bed liner from Toyota as an extra after pricing it aftermarket. One thing...A mistake I made. Get the plastic cover for your tailgate. I didn't and had to purchase it.

I didn't want to do a Spray-on-bed liner just yet until if and when it was needed. SO far the matt has worked great.

I had my truck for 14 years, 13 of them were with the line-x. The bubbling was in the front of the bed where it met the cab. I initially thought rust as the rest of the truck was started to get it pretty good on the typical spots. Looking up from under the bed I couldn’t see anything.
I don’t know, It just got me wondering if water would collect between the grooves of the bed and it would sit under the mat for long periods of time unable to evaporate.

Just did the BedRug and we’ll worth the cost.

Got the most basic mat fit for the Tundra on Amazon for like $70 as an AmazonWarehouse item - only flaw I could find was a slightly rough end not cleaned properly - 30 seconds with a knife and looked fine.

Personally - I think a quality spray in liner and bedrug are the perfect combo. I just don’t see hauling anything that might scratch in an unprotected bed - and the bud rug makes hauling furniture or other items that might scratch/dent in hauling worry free.

BedRug.com had a 10% off sale - might still be on. The basic was like $109 from memory - the tailgate mat cost me $55 - or they sell an “extended” mat and gate cover that covers the gap between for like $225.

Personally - wouldn’t opt for the pricy all around one at near $500 - wall protection is not worth it to me.

BedRug and a liner or good topper/tonneau will protect you for years and give you a useful bed for hauling. I’m probably gonna opt out of a liner just because bigger/bulkier heavy items to me are more easily put on a 8ft trailer and pulled than loaded in the bed.

Personally, I’d do the full bed rug and skip the spray in liner. The spray liner will make it more difficult for the Velcro adhesive to stay retained which will cause the bed rug to slide and move around over time. The bed rug is a polymer and is extremely tough. I have hauled many a piles of gravel, sand, dirt and tons of debris such as old decking and such. Protects very well and cleans up easy.

If that happened, then whoever did your Line-X didn't prep your bed properly. My Line-X is a pretty thick layer and there isn't a spot where water/moisture can get under.

No such thing as a “factory” bed liner to my knowledge in recent tundras - just port or dealer accessory install (most dealers will sublet to local line x or similar shop). Depending on region some may at at the distribution port as well.
