Oh jeeze. It's not any more or less difficult than any other modern car.

This is what my truck is going to look like whenever 1stgenoffroad sends my GD front shocks and UCAs. (order placed on 11 May)
I'm not going to do tires (or wheels) until after the chassis is fresh and I make a decision about 35s & gears, 35s & no gears, or 33s and livin la vida loca.

The Tundra gods appreciate you saying "wheels" and not "rims".

    That is all.

Which UCA's did you order? Have you been able to reach them? I tried to spend over $1,500 there in 2019 and he never would call me back.

    IDK what a rims is.
    RIMZ is lyfe tho, breh.

Freedom OffRoad UCAs with stock balljoints and OME shocks.
The shocks weren't on backorder until I ordered them, with a release date of 'end of May'.
The UCAs were supposed to released at the end of June.
As I work in the industry, I understand backorders and supply chain disruptions.

BUT I ALSO UNDERSTAND HOW EASY IT IS TO SEND AN EMAIL to let a MFer know what's going on.
I also know how to set a reminder in any of my calendars to follow up on customers/coworkers to make sure no one is left wondering wtf is going on.

I've never had someone more angry about being told there's further delay than someone who has to call/email/smokesignal to find out there's further delay.
    proactive > reactive

EDIT: The one time I emailed for an update, I did get a response in timely fashion. I just don't feel like I should have to ask for an update.

EDIT 2: I also never received any shipping/tracking info. Things just started showing up. (none of it together or at the same time)

I had trouble with the guy when I was shopping around for OME springs. He argued with me, told me his opinion on what he thought I needed for my setup, sent me some arbitrary photos of his sequoia, then communication went silent. His shipping / prices also seemed noticeably higher than anywhere else when I was shopping around, mind you this was in like 2019. Just my $0.02. One would think he's a member on here?:notsure:

Yeah, I didn't go to him for advice....just parts. Every single time I've let someone talk me out of what I really wanted, I ended up buying twice. So I read what I can, ask questions, and make a decision. It's made life much easier and [at least marginally] less disappointing.
Shipping and pricing wasn't far off the norm or I would've gone elsewhere. There's no loyalty for purchasing like there's no loyalty in the workplace.

More or less my point. I was asking him if I could order 886 springs with OME nitrochargers. What I got in his response was a handful of different reasons why 886s weren't what I really wanted. So I went elsewhere.

Edit: Ironically, I did end up with 885s, but only because I purchased the complete shocks locally from a craigslist ad for a fraction of near new price. I still would like to know how the heavier spring performs, as I drive around with a steel bumper & winch w/o a sway bar. Body roll is fun.

Yeah, I gave you too good of a deal on those :)

I'm probably going to buy a better coil compressor than what I can get at o'reilly so if you do want to swap out coils, you're welcome to use it.

Well I'll be damned, glad to see you on the forum! I recall you asking around on the CO thread for a compressor. If you don't want to pay for an o'reilly rental, I have some jesus sticks up north you can use at any time. I can't guarantee your life, though.

@onesojourner you were asking about new places to visit. Have you been to the outer banks? I'd highly recommend it. Taking the ferry out there was a neat experience and at times it felt like we had the island to ourselves.

That looks like the kind of place you can let your dog chase the waves. Where is this exactly?

A couple years ago we took a trip down to FL partly to see how our dog liked the ocean (he will literally swim in anything at any temperature). Turns out FL does not like dogs on beaches. We camped at Grayton(sp?) beach state park. That looks a bit more remote and much more our speed.

I can imagine his shipping would be higher than most bigger shops. I haven't looked into his store but I think its just a dude off youtube who decided to start selling parts. A lot of reports say similar about the bad communication. Sounds disorganized.

As much as I like to support the small businesses I tend to stick with older known vendors when it comes to expensive shit. If they ever send a wrong part or something is defective there is usually a faster remediation that way.

It is pretty surprising he isn't a member here, or maybe not if he doesn't have time. I can't think of a better place to promote the sale of first gen parts than here.

That's where the ferry drops you off and you can then camp anywhere you choose on the island. Good times.

anyone have some free time? can yall check and see if you've got any slop in your slip joint splines? put you hand on the drive shaft, rotate the wheels (need to be jacked up) and feel and see if theres a bit of slop in the slip joint... im starting to think my play is the reason i've got a 50-70 vibration from the rear.

I found a picture of my old motorbike.
    OZPJCis5L2eFi1Cq_kaOWzltQ7dmbwM7gp3iOark_6128da6f8c113888300b14771b69840f5889bf65.jpg

Lessons learned on this guy, on an average motorcycle ride to work it will be 2 of the following:
    Too hot
    Too cold
    Too wet

and bonus points for "now where am I going to carry this".

I pretty much have my name on a “motor pickle” that my grandpa from Texas has. We rode it as kids with him, me in front, then him, then my sister; terrorizing the river path that doesn’t allow motorized anything’s. I really need to make a trip out there before it’s to late.
    It’s a Honda Fat Cat!
@Tundra2 I got to watch my dog poop while running after us on that thing, might need to share on the campfire thread
