It's not the ethanol, it's the other additives added that are designed by the oil majors.

I don’t drive a Tundra so people get out of my way, and I could care less about laying rubber. I drive a full size pickup because right now our family needs dictate that. Gas prices suck, but I just limit my driving as much as I can and roll with it. Honestly, if I could make it work I’d probably drive a Crosstrek for a hunting and fishing vehicle.

Which has nothing to do with the grade (octane) or the ethanol content.

Exactly, that was the original point of this discussion, that the ethanol doesn't really have any benefits.

Correct. I guess I just don't understand why you guys all started talking about additives when the question was about ethanol.

Actually original point was 2nd guessing fuel mileage, cost of gas, switched tracks to ethanol, and then another track to additives, then on to mpg.

I was referring to the question from Shamrock today about ethanol. Sorry, I guess "original" was misleading.

I’m getting better mileage than my modded 2016 4Runner.

Currently averaging 16+ per tank, but then again I bought it last week.

For now I am still using premium... until I don’t.

Trying to figure habits after coming from a coupe.

I've purchased over 15,000 gallons of gas for my Gen1. Difference between $2 and $4 gas is $30,000 which is about what I paid for my Gen1. It adds up.... a LOT.

Cut off is $100 if you’re using your card. But I paid cash for this fill up.

    I handed the cashier $160
Me: $160 on number 8 please
Cashier: are you filling up two cars?
    Me:
Well, at least I still have enough change to get a drink and a pack of gum.

Little higher now here in Raleigh at $2.89 when I filled up yesterday August 27, 2021. Just doing some occasional local trips so tankful is lasting a long time.

While this is true, it isn't entirely a fair representation. This cost is marginally higher than the other trucks available at that time. So the cost of gas of somewhat fixed.

Here in Canada, the price of gas is 1.22 per liter CDN. This translates to 3.65 per gallon in USD.

3.7854 liters to 1 US gallon
    1 Cdn to 1 Usd = 0.79

Regular (87 octane) here in central TX running about $2.70, 93 octane at $3.33. I was running an OV 93 octane tune until about a month ago, but decided to flash it back to the optional OV 87 octane tune for the time being. Saves me a little money. MPG is about 16.5 to 17 on either tune. Noticeably less power on the 87 octane tune, and exhaust is louder under load.

Sad to see that in the last 8 months the US gas prices have started to creep up and look like Canada's gas prices. I have a few opinions on this and I'm sorry it's happening to you.

$1.22 CDN is Alberta pricing compared to other parts of Canada where it's easily over $1.60 CDN/liter. 4 Liters to a gallon, sorry for the math.

I'd take $1.22 CDN any day of the week since that is equivalent to $3.65/gallon...

I paid $4.09/gallon at Costco the other day... SHEESH

Filled up the other day, I think it was about $3.25/gallon. Higher than the last couple of years but nothing that will force me to change my driving habits. Truck has been paid off since 2012, so all I’m in it for us registration, insurance, fuel, and maintenance. The money it would take to buy a new daily driver to “save money on fuel” will just buy me a lot of fuel instead. So buying a new vehicle based on reduced operating cost makes no sense for me considering my annual mileage being under 10K/year on the Tundra for the past 6 years.

$2.38 at our local Costco a couple days ago. Sam's club displaying that same price tonight. Another station at $2.42. But it is all over the map..some still as high as $2.79. Most every station was at $2.79 about 3 weeks ago.

So far averaging 17.2 miles for every gallon pumped into the tank. Last three tanks all over 18. Hand calculated.
