After about a dozen trips to the dealer under warranty for various fixes, I finally threw in the towel on the Ram 1500 when the engine started giving me problems. Getting 2K more in trade than what I paid made the jump very easy.

Finger crossed no issues with the new Tundra, other than maybe adding a transmission cooler.

Feel so fortunate to get the last of this gen Tundra with the big V8.

    Pics incoming…

Welcome from NC! Those Rams seem to be hit or miss from a reliability and dependability standpoint.

Thanks all! The truck is a loaded up SR5. About what I had in the Ram which was a loaded up Big Horn. I like the mid trims.

Wouldn’t have chosen the color but now am really digging it. It’s all they had left.

Thanks again for the welcome everyone!

Was lurking here quite a bit before making the jump. Looks like a very active forum.

Speaking of Army Green, this truck feels built like a tank!

All you need now is the TRD grill and paint the surround army green and front bumper caps painted to cover the chrome or aftermarket bumper

Really digging the TRD Off Road Package shocks and wheels. Hit some nasty bumps today pulling onto a dirt road.

Also, the stereo is not bad. Saw a lot of posts complaining about it but I’,m not sure I’m going to upgrade it. I’ve adjusted the mids down, base and treb up, and it sounds pretty good. Maybe the 2nd best factory stereo i’ve had. Assuming there is an amp? I’ve got the Audio Plus, non JBL. I think it’s 9 speakers.

    Welcome.

I get what your saying about the color - sometimes though they grow on you. When I bought mine - I wanted something different color wise - but being a Pro my color choices were limited and my first choices weren’t among the offerings this year. It was go used (scarce and cost more than a new) or accept a different color - overall, I went new and remembered it’s what’s underneath that matters - but damn black gets hot in the summer sun.

The radio - I 100% agree with you - there’s a lot of complaining going on about both - but it’s not HORRIBLE to my ears. Depending on what you listen to and how discerning you are - it can be acceptable as is. Play with the settings and unless your listening to something bass heavy or very high pitched - it’s ok.

I made the “mistake” of feeling rushed into buying an upgrade for mine due to chip shortage - bought the Tech12Volts kit and it’s setting in the office uninstalled. Probably get around to starting to look at it today - but if I had to do it again - I’d probably have waited.

What I DO suggest - start with adding some sound deadening to the doors. It’s cheap - easy enough to pop off door panels and it will help. It also makes the doors feel/close more solidly - guess I’m just used to luxury cars and the Tundra doors feel a bit hollow opening and closing.

While you’ve got the trim panels off - you might consider swapping door speakers - it’s not going to be earth shattering - but $100 gets you a better set.

From there you can add amp/sub - that in your case would make a bigger difference I think. Again - depends on what you listen to - but unless your playlist is audiobooks - it’s gonna make you happy (even if it is just audiobooks - you still might like it better for more booming voices).

Mods are addictive - just remember to go with what YOU like - a lot of people on here will say “ditch the chrome…lift kit…tires and rims..etc” - it’s all about YOU. If you like the look stock - then go with it. If you want to put a 6” lift on it - go ahead. Too hard to see something- think that looks nice and try to copy - only to realize it’s just not functional or to your taste.
