Windshield wiper linkage/motor question

Just replaced the wiper transmission + purchased a new motor

not quite sure how to fasten the motor to the linkage piece or what tool i might need.

I tried muscling it on there w/o any luck

not really much clearance room b/w linkage piece

Use the nut to pull it on, but measure the motor swing so you can clock the arm where it needs to be.

 

Replaced the linkage on mine. I plugged the motor in and let it cycle once to get it to the starting position. Then lined the linkage up in the resting position and attached to the motor using the nut to "press" the arm on. The new linkage has a slightly longer throw, so the blades rest too low and sweep too long.

Not enough threads to start the nut? Are there ‘teeth’ or splines on the ID of the linkage?

 

Describe the difficulty. I put the arm against the motor output shaft and lined the splines up, put the nut on the threads and cranked that puppy down.

 

There’s splines/teeth on each and they line up (don’t think incorrect fitting is the issue)

After getting nut lined up with linkage arm, I don’t have the clearance space I need on the opposite side of the linkage arm for the shaft to get through with the pressure I’m applying pressing the motor toward the arm

Feel like I need a binding tool, but there isn’t enough space for a c-clamp to get from motor to arm on opposite sides.
