So, I’m walking into Ace and I notice some guy with his hood open, and was about 10' away talking to another guy. He was holding a spray can, but I did not give any further thought to it. I get home and start to get back on installation of a light in my Tonneau when I start to open the tailgate and see what looks to be white overspray on the taillight. I wipe it with my finder and it’s not coming off. Then I notice it on everything “black”, and of course it does not come off. I run to the carwash before it cures to no avail. Back home I decided to try Windex and with a little scrub it came off of my test area on the bumper. I’m not sure if the ammonia will discolor it, or impact the integrity of the plastic components. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could use?

I’m glad to some capacity I did not catch him actually doing this as I was not a happy camper. Which brings me to my next thought; what idiot spray paints there vehicle in a store parking lot, where there are clearly vehicles around? I don’t understand the lack or brains cells, or inconsiderate bonehead that does this without thinking.

This thing is a month old; I am beside myself right now and need to grab a shower and cool down…

BTW, it did come off the taillights, and since my truck is white, I cant see it on the paint. There was a little dust layer on it, so I think I got lucky there. It is on the glass, but I can easily resolve that.

    Thanks all.

Goo Gone Automotive. Used it on my previous truck that had over spray on the tailgate. Works great and did not harm the clear coat.

Oh yeah and what an a**hole for doing that in a parking lot with cars in it (especially a brand new Tundra)! Some people. :annoyed:

Clay bar may also do the trick

Wow that sucks. Some people have no respect for others. Goo gone for paint was my thought.

What he said. Clays come in different levels of aggressiveness, start with the least aggressive and move from there. Afterwards, seal it with 2 coats of a good sealer, 2 coats of wax and it'll be as good as new. No problem at all, over spray happens alot in body shops.

I have never used a clay bar before. My truck is black, any risk involved?

    Goo Gone works best.

afterwards a good paste wax will keep the "new shine" look.
