Priority Toyota in Chesapeake Virginia had a White and a Black CM on the lot as of this morning, also showing two MGM CMs available for transfer to their lot. (757) 213-5000

I think markups are going to be the standard right now, production for this gen will end in October and the pros will probably stop in end of July/early August, so choices are going to be slim.

Oh yeah 90% of the places I've called have markups. Luckily the dealer that ordered mine said no to markups straight msrp, but they're getting a badass tacoma for trade in. I'm sure they'll make money on both ends

I feel like a dummy asking this, but it seems that Toyota is different than other brands when it comes to "ordering"... How does it work with Toyota, and I'm assuming at this point you cannot "order" a '21?

I had to find a dealer that had a trd pro already allocated to them, put a deposit down and wait. You can change the add-ons, but not the color or trim level. At least this was my experience...

Ah ok. Im looking for a Platinum, preferably red or blue... which I realized i have a better chance of winning powerball than finding a voodoo blue platinum...

yeah, that’s everywhere now. Buddy of mine works for another Toyota dealership around here. He said it’s a 5k markup on all PROs and I believe 3k on other models right now. Zero negations because of the shortages and they know someone will buy it at the asking price.

Nope, was driving past that dealership this morning and saw it, so I gave them a quick call. Just trying to help out a fellow Tundra driver, Love my PRO and know they are a pain in the ass to find right now.

Buy something else and save yourself some headache. It’s literally the oldest truck in its segment everything about the Tundra is outdated. 2022 is just around the corner, those paying 5k - 10k over MSRP will be kicking themselves in 6 month because value of the current generation will sink like a rock when the new model hits the dealership.

Check the build link in my signature.
I don’t think they ever made a platinum in voodoo blue, so yes. Way better odds at powerball there.
My limited knowledge of their system is that the production numbers by trim and color are fixed at start of production year and dealers have to try and get an allocation for the truck you want to “order” (assuming what you want is even an available configuration). So it isn’t like other mfgrs where you can basically option a base model up to a top model by adding options and color choices.

Think of it like buying a spec house in a developer’s neighborhood. You start out with a handful of floor plans. Then based on the floor plan you pick, you get a couple options for cabinets, and a couple options for fixtures. The cabinets you pick then dictates what options you get for appliances. And which lot you bought decides what options of paint color you get for the outside.

Just my opinion. If you are able to get a Pro at msrp like I did. You will make out just fine if you decide to upgrade down the road for the new tundra. The dealers are going to want this V8 on there lots. It will hold it value really well. Especially if Toyota does not put out another V8 option.

Price are only inflated because low inventory. Gas guzzler V8 has no real value with what people need a truck for, practicality. There are millions of these truck on the road, people won’t hold on to it when there is a better replacement. But hey if you love your Nokia cellphone from the 90s, to each his own…

Losing 5 real world mpg in comparison to the new tundra won't make or break most people. I drive a 3rd gen tacoma with the 3.5l and get 14mpg. They totally ruined the tacoma engine (2nd to 3rd gen) trying to get better mileage. What happened in reality was creating a grossly underpowered engine with equal efficiency.

In all honesty I do think the new engine will be a better Power plant in most ways, but I'll trust riding around in the proven V8 while we see what happens to the 2022.

    A. Why troll a Tundra forum - telling everyone they made a mistake buying one - and then Post “hey - your choice” ??

Isn’t it YOUR choice to sign up, post and be the troll here ? I mean you really think your gonna win any arguments- no matter how confident you are in yourself.

As to the future and resale - there is no crystal ball - but there are past examples. Check out resale on other half tons that underwent major power train revisions the last decade (so all of the big 3) - you’d be surprised at the loyalist support.

    B. Have you actually PRICED certain Nokia phones of the 90s- they are highly sought after and command a premium (for a variety of reasons - some doing with the ability to be modified/hacked.

And never underestimate the buying public and their “sentimental” attachment to a brand/product - even when it’s clearly no longer up to the standard in your eyes.

Craftsman - great example. What’s it been - 2 or 3 DECADES now that this brand has been riding on the coat tails of its legacy as a buy it once in your lifetime tool ?

I personally would buy Harbor Freight hand tools anyway over a “craftsman” brand - hell - I’d probably do anything from HF over their stuff (and I mean the most basic - not Pittsburgh Pro or the legit slightly better products they up charge for).

But there is a reason when Sears went South - that Craftsman brand commanded a billion or so dollars. Loyalty - blind or not, it exist and you will never convince the followers they are wrong as a whole.

Expecting Toyota buyers to jump ship and to stop buying current generation Tundras because there is something “better” is likely another lesson in how you can’t change the tides of buyer preference/demand.

Nah - he got the ultra scarce “moon rock” edition - think that’s the one driven on the moon in the fake videos they made back in the 60s when the Tundra was first introduced…

Seriously - if you take buying advice off someone who can’t even get the color of a brand new truck supposedly in their possession right - you’ve been warned.

I see why you're bashing now... you wanted one and couldn't find it without paying over msrp, so you'd rather be lazy and compromise... definitely deals to be found if you know how to look

If you buy a 21 Pro you will get your money back plus a lot more to trade up to the new tundra. Ask me how I know. I did it with both my 4runner Pros. Why cause I can. Lol.

Able to locate it on a lot, it was a used 2021 TRD Pro. I think i made out because other dealers were asking for the same amount for a used 2020 trd pro.
