What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Forget I did almost 15 years ago and still holding up great and goes well with the updated interior I just did ..I took a bunch of interior trim parts and had them line-x .

 

3rd Gens about to hit 2000 pages

 

It's a cheap Bluetooth obdii reader.

 

Then what? I’ve got an OBD2 reader and a pioneer double din touchscreen head. Please share….What’s the interface that runs it? And does it relay thru a phone?

 

Got the Tacoma back today - new fuel tank & straps. Celebrated it's return to the fold by washing both trucks with Mr. Pink & a rubdown with Beadmaker.

Put the new gas cap on the Tundra. $30 through the mechanic, but it's done. I wouldn't have started looking for one yet, so worth the price.
rumor is people like pictures, so took pictures. didn't even know I was missing my gas cap leash. @Professional Hand Model please excuse the Fluid Film film.

 

Installed a soft roll up tonneau cover today. Very easy install and looks better than I thought it would.




Gave it a spritz of 303 UV protection for good measure.

 

I'm gonna paint it in a few years. Thinking Lunar Rock with Oxblood red interior. The interior is painted black at least.

 

Android head unit, running the Torque obd2 app using the bluetooth obd2 dongle.

 

Turd gens are still in production, and newbs come/go there all the time. Doesn't surprise me that they are up to so many pages of debauchery.

True that. I hung most of the lights in the areas you all have seen so far. That was before most of the injection oresses came in anyways.

When I have a garage, it's gonna be like walking into the fuckin sun. So very tired of working in the dark.

 

I’ve got OK lighting in my garage but I effed up with where/what circuit i tapped into for power, I had a switch near the back of the garage(used to be a open carport) so I went into that, what I should done was tap into the security light that now never gets used since I enclosed the carport, which it’s switch is inside right by the door leading out.

 

Years of working in similar situations led me to go overboard when I got the chance. Since this was a new build a few years ago, I had 4 switched outlets installed in the ceiling so I could daisy chain a bunch (14) of 4' LED fixtures and see EVERYTHING when I threw the light switch on. Happy to report it works as intended. I also had the garage floor epoxied before we even moved in! The other stuff was on the want list and I've been trying to tick off boxes when I'm able to.

 

Why are we glossing over those dirtbike stands?

Learned 2 things yesterday while working on @jpink 05 DC 2WD. He doesn't have a greaseable drive shaft. Is this because it's 2WD? Also, I now see why @Darkness said headers were not that bad. There is easily twice as much space to access the manifolds as my 4WD Tundra. Same with the engine mounts. Those would be a lot easier to reach.

 

Not gonna lie, a little jealous of the wrenching bro action. None of my buddies wrench. Or own FGT's. My brother in law almost bought one. Bank wouldn't finance 2006 back in 2018 for him.

 

Ive gotta drive to killeen for my wrenching buddy. But he got rid of his camaro project car, for a ‘99 honda magna, and it only needs about 45 minutes of work. Children have ruined all my cool friends.

Unpopular opinion: I'd rather have sealed Spicer joints on the driveshaft over greaseable joints.

 

The spicers are grease-able

 

Yeah but don't you live on a gravel road? I'm just curious why his were not greaseable. I didn't realize that was a thing on the 1st gens. His driveshaft looked completely different than mine. It didn't have a slip yoke.

 

Some of them are. They make non greaseable that are a solid product.

The "problem" with greaseable is that I have to remember to do it on a regular basis. I'm not arguing that they can't last longer just that I'm an idiot.
