I should also add that a static hiss is typically not related to bad or failed speakers.

If amps are ruled out then grounding may be a pervasive issue. Clearing paint from ground points would be beneficial. Ground each component may be necessary as well, however, the HU ground wire typically works fine.

    Electromagnetic interference

test with a speaker and some new wire if you have a spare speaker handy

Electromagnetic interference. Source would be another electrical current bleeding into the speaker wire signal. IE power wire in line with speaker wires. Typically one side is bad, since people usually run the power wire on one side whereas the signal wire to the speakers go up both sides.

If you can hear the static with the HU off it leads me to believe your aftermarket amp is not shutting off. If your amp shuts off there would be no power going to the speakers and you would hear nothing. How is your amp switched (remote wire or signal sensing)? If it's signal sensing I would try switching it to a remote wire as it doesn't sound like it's shutting off like it should.

Sorry might not have been clear the car is on and I just power down the HU. So amp is still on.

Good point I’ll turn it on from another external battery see if that helps this would bypass the wire running through the truck

I understand the vehicle is on. The amp should shut off if the head unit is off. If hooked up with a remote wire this would happen almost instantly when you turn off the HU. It may take 30 seconds or so to turn off if the amp is switched by the signal coming from the RCAs. What brand and model amp is it? Can you post a picture of the amps switched and dials so we can see how it's set?

Because you are not getting the white noise from the dash speakers (powered by head unit), it leads me to believe that there is something wrong with the amp. It’s likely, as others have pointed out a faulty pin somewhere or grounding issue. After checking all harness connections for proper seating and continuity (can be VERY frustrating and time consuming) I would try to run a whole new amp wiring kit and see if that takes care of the issue.

You could also make sure everything is grounded from the same location. See if you can find another amp just to throw in there to test to see if you can isolate the issue.

Double check the individual speakers. Make sure that the contacts on the speakers are not touching any part of the metal door. I have taken speakers and flipped them so that the speaker terminals are on the top when the speaker is mounted so that they don’t slide down and hit anything.

I take that back the amp does NOT shut down, I held the power button on the radio it turned off and screen went black and back into recessed position. I’m using the pre done harnesses that ties into factory harness from tech12v which uses the factory remote wire. However it turns off when I shut the ignition down. Maybe I’m putting HU in standby mode. That’s why amp doesn’t power off I’ll double check instructions after kids go to bed amd stop arguing

If you are using the factory remote wire it may turn on with the ignition. Not sure on that.

I had a JBL club 5055 now I have a Phoenix gold MX800, James set the amp before he sent it to me. I just Double checked the Truck is on running I turned off the HU and the amp is still on with the light on. So remote power is going off ignition not HU.

That wire is to my subs, I’ve flipped the switch’s and turned all the knobs. Done it with two amps I’m going to double check wires in doors make sure nothing is touching any metal and the check HU wires back the factory wire for anything loose etc

Interested to see how this turns out. I too had a hum/buzz after first installing my system. I dialed down the gains and it went away.

Isolating the Amp power/ground from the RCA wires would also help, something I didn't do (oops)

I think you can at least rule out and grounding out of any speaker wire. Kenwood headunits, will create a popup message, (at least it did on my excellon), stating there is a problem with a speaker, and not run, if any of the speaker wires are grounded. It happened to me when I removed my front speakers, and just ran off the rears and tweeters, and didn t secure or cap off one of the wires. I removed the driver side door panel, and sure enough one wire was touching bare metal.

This would not likely be the case because of the amplifier the the OP has installed.

I think it s worth it pulling new wires. By doing so you remove many potential problems from the equation. IMO, this problem you are having being one of them.

    Stock, for now
I was here many years ago. It was with Clarion components in a Tahoe. The issue was a weak main grounding wire and a weak HU ground. They replace both and the noise was gone. Now a days its different. Our trucks are well grounded but check that one first.
Assuming that your phone is not connected to the truck, I would start from the simplest connection and start adding components. At this point I do not know if the connections are correct but try this:
Have you tried regrounding the HU?

    1. Disconnect amp from HU
    2. Connect one unmounted speaker to HU
    3. Connect amp with only one unmounted speaker

At this point you will know whats making the sound.

I would guess its the amp.
    1. Rewire main (+) outside the truck.
    2. Rewire ground at another point
    3. Check rca cables. Connect one channel at a time

Curious to know if you got it figured out OP. I just installed the Phoenix Gold amp and Hertz speakers package with 2-10” subs package that Tech12 has and I have a pretty loud hiss from the new tweeters and door speakers. I haven’t installed the subs yet. I have a factory non-JBL HU as well. I grounded to one of the existing amp mounting bolts and used a dremal to expose bare metal under my ground. After reading through this thread I’m going to try a few things others suggested as well tomorrow. I actually had this same issue with the TakoTunes amp that was in the truck before installing this system. I had to turn the gain way down to make it less noticeable. I thought it was the amp, but I guess not now.

I haven't had time to mess with it, since i made this post I was going to get on it next friday.
I was going to remove all the doors and check wires, for any of them making contact (bare) against the door/metal.
the check the rear tweeter wires that I left disconnect from the stock system and see if the problem is there maybe plug back in tweeter and see if makes a difference. idk just be searching for options. I will post when I rip into again. it sure as shit is annoying as hell.

Yes it is annoying…the tweeters are definitely where most of the noise is coming from on mine, but there is some coming from the door speakers too. I do notice that I have a very slight hiss even with the head unit turned off, which makes me think I do have some interference somewhere with maybe a ground or power. But it’s tenfold louder when the head unit is on.

Yes for sure, i wonder if something is grounding out. my stock tweeter wire is just hanging in door I replaced with hertz speaker which came with its own wiring.
