If I remember correctly, the manual equipped SHO (super high output) had a 3.0 liter Yamaha sourced V6 with around 300hp. The automatic verson got a 3.2 liter with about 20 more horse to make up for the slushbox. Why not put the 3.2 with the manual??? what the hell?

 

Do those yammerhammers require high test?

i guess mid grade with 9.8:1 cr.

 

That would be funny if it came in a station wagon version, I wouldn't mind driving that. Makes me think more of the family station wagon in an ss version I rode around in as a kid.

 

I looked it up, way off on the HP, they came stock with 220hp. Didn't break 300 till the newer ecoboost generation came out.

220hp aint bad. But it’ll spin to 7k. And its hard not to make great noise at 7k.

A set of 4 Bilstein 4600s is priced at over $400. Wasn't it cheaper not too long ago? I thought I saw it going for around $320-$350.

Yes, small 5 ton. Previous employer had a 25 ton crane. That one was fun times.

It is. It's a finicky bitch that needs lots of attention. There's actually a huge procedure every 60k miles that needs to be done, not unlike our 90k timing belt.

It is. It's the 4th gen SHO. Super High Output. It's faster than mine, but slower in corners. No manual either. But 365hp and awd is a hell of a thing. But it's just lacking in that true enthusiast feel...

It absolutely is. You just have to drive one to feel it. And not an auto one, one with a stick. Hustle it around a few corners and you'll see.

Funny you mention that. A few people have built SHO wagons.

I have another 91 that has the 3.2 swap. It needs some love too, but it came from indiana, so it's got some rust issues underneath.

Premium is recommended, but not required. It does run better on 91 though.

That is bad ass. I would touch myself every time I drove that.

Recline is 7300. But, with UDPs and a tune it'll spin to 8k easily. The recline is more to protect the accessories and the trans. This motor has been tested to 11k and lived.

 

I had a 3.0 V6 (Ford not Yamaha) Mercury Sable for a while. Much of the hood and side cladding was borrowed from the Sable. The Ford motor would absolutely scoot. The Yammy probably dials it up a notch.

 

You’re no doubt familiar with the SHOGun (for those who don’t know, it’s a Ford Festiva with the same Yamaha engine)?
Any chance you know a guy who goes by GeekSho? That’s my cousin, he has a fairly modified ‘89 SHO, even ran a supercharger on it for a while. That car is a blast to drive, but the amount of time energy and work he’s put into it is crazy, he’s done the clutch so many times and been through a number of transmissions. It’s a cult for sure.

but i doubt yota would pair with cummins. Look how that turned out with nissan.

 

Toyota makes some damn good diesels over seas. I don’t see them partnering with American diesel manufacturers before trying to get theirs up to us environmental standards (aka ruin an engine)

Yup, he's helped me out a few times on shoforum. I've been a member on that forum since 02. Iirc, it's a black 89, a somewhat rare color for that year considering most were titanium.

 

I alway remember this Hoopty Guy I’d always see driving around in his SHO back in 90’s. His plates read LOW4SHO.

Gonna pull and paint mudflaps today. Anyone have expierience with that plastic fusion paint? These things are awful flimsy. And i dont want the paint to flake as soon as it dries.

 

it depends. It’s nice before June or after October because the mosquitoes die off, but it’s a lot cooler, so that may not be your cup of tea. June/July is generally less hot than Augusta/September.

 

thoughts? Maybe using an rv 24v pump?
if you look close it has the uv magical.
