Is the 60/40 front seat available in any Gen 3s??

And why and when did they get rid of the 60/40 front seat?

If you grew up driving in trucks with bench seats….that’s part of the fun having a truck…your country girl rides right next to ya on the bench seat going down the dirt roads!!!

Basically SR column shifted only and that kills the big tank.

Yes SR is the answer !

I bought SR DC-6.5 bed 5.7- 4x4 and never looked back - no power rear window and short on features but saved on the bottom $$$ and will BUILD it better then any factory PRO in due time

In addition to the SR trim, you can get a crewmax SR5 with the front bench and column shifter, but it can't have the SR5 Upgrade package. Must be a bare bones SR5. You can get 4wd, but any packages eliminate the front bench and column shifter.

The SR does not have a 60/40 seat in any way.

It has the same 2 bucket seats that they all have and then a little odd midget seat in between. Mine was a terrible armrest and a terrible middle seat and almost unusable for either not at all like the split bench in my 1st gen.

Sorry to speak the truth here that you probably do not want to hear.

Yes, front bench is a bit of a misnomer as it's not a true bench like Grandpa's old Chevy. I think the people who want it don't care that the outer seats are the same buckets; they want the extra 6th seat in between and the column shifter.

Maybe but the one I have is a pain to use in either orientation really.
To sit on it you need to have a tiny ass and it is not really a part of either of the bucket seats at all and it is always in the way as a console or armrest and not near the height of the doors armrest either?

The only thing about it I was sad to lose was the tiny hidden compartment.

LOL I know. I can see your point but the seat is much like my Z/71 was. For us the seat is fine, I don't sit there and my wife is 95 pounds so its no issue. Its a 6th spot to sit. To say it does not IN ANY WAY have one is your opinion.

BTW is that a longbed you have?

I just meant that it is more a 40/20/40 than a 40/60 in the end.

Yes it is a Reg Cab Long Bed!
I try not to attract passengers if possible!

My 2002 long bed has the 40/60 bench.
My 2007 short bed has the 40/20/40 bench... I keep the center section of the jump seat in the upright position because my right elbow would crash into the hard plastic arm rest / cup holder arrangement.

here is my adventurous ‘01 SR5 TRD Tundra with a true 60/40 front bench seat….for 3 person seating up front! My lil guy likes sitting on the arm rest driving down the woods roads!!

so, when I eventually look to get into a Gen 3….I should be looking for only an SR model to ensure I get the true 60/40 front bench seat & column shifter? Does it matter what year??

a shoot off question also would be which Gen 3 years steered clear of using Mexican steel for frames that caused the massive recall? They replaced my frame at no cost 2 yrs ago even after I missed the recall…but the truck was in the computer prior for a rusted spare tire bracket!! Lucky me they put it in the computer …& lucky the spare tire only fell off going down a dirt road deep in the pines!!

    Nice classic there!

You can get a 3rd Gen SR5 with the same 60/40 bench seat. I have one in DC configuration. Can also get in CM configuration. As said earlier, you can't get any of the SR5 packages or you automatically lose the bench seat.

    What’s DC or CM Configuration?
And….u said u can’t get 60/40 in any SR5 packages or u automatically lose bench seat….but above that you said you can get 3rd Gen SR5 w 60/40…I’m confused and obviously a new member here. Thanks!

For the 2014-2021, adding any SR5 packages deletes the 40/20/40 front seats for 2 bucket seats and a middle console. The column shifter is also removed for the floor shifter. DC = double cab, CM = Crewmax.

So just the SR package for those years has the column shifter?
    And the seat is a 40/20/40….not a 60/40?

I have not seen the 60/40 front seat offered in any 2007-2021 models so do not believe they are available. There are some slight differences between the SR and the basic SR5 with no packages. Besides the base 40/20/40 front seat and column shifter, I believe the SR5 comes with foglights/foglight stalk, intermittent wipers and carpeted floor instead of vinyl. Might be missing some other details. I don't believe the SR is available in Crewmax either.

No you can not, they do not make the same design 60/40 seat as in the 1st gen truck for the 3rd gen truck it is the 40/20/40 like I have shown or just the buckets with a console.

I dont know about the Column Shifter being only the SR trim but I dont think so as you can get the 40/20/40 seat in higher trims too and you will then also get the Column shifter as the Console shifter goes where the 20 part of the bench seat goes!
