In talking with the guy at AG he recommends a rear shock between 15” compressed and 24-25” extended to use with his leaf packs.

To those that have them, what shocks are you running front and rear and how does it ride? He has me talked into the heavy duty leaf springs vs the medium duty

You might look into the use of 10" shocks for the rear. Some guys have run Fox or SAW 10" shocks with the older AG springs and it appears the new springs have the same range. King may also build one to fit but you won't likely find an off the shelf shock for that range. Maybe a newer Tacoma based shock could work.

For Fox the lower mount tabs on the axle need to be bent outward a bit to fit.

I don't have AG springs but I have aftermarket leaf springs with roughly the same travel and a bit less height. I was considering 10" shocks but will go with the AG relocation kit to run 11" or 22" shocks instead.

Man not to recommend spending more money but I’d consider the shock relocation kit like @Darkness mentioned. Ive got one of those kits also just hasn’t made it on the truck. It’s gonna open way more shock options for ya

I may just wait on the rear leafs and do them next year. May just go with the icon add pack for the rear and call it a day and not mess with it. Either that or have Alcan build a set with 1/2 less lift than the Archive Garage springs and use the old man emu shocks

    I genuinely appreciate the responses.

You might be disappointed with a 3 pack add on. That was a good option long ago but I think by now springs are saggy and that just doesn't give the lift intended anymore. @FirstGenVol installed the Icon 3 pack and got nothing from it.

Maybe if you leave the overload on it will work. I would just wait.

I’m going to reach out to Alcan today and see if they can build a leaf pack that gives 2” of lift. That OME shock was within 1/2” of being perfect so hopefully that’ll work. I just don’t have the time and don’t want to spend the extra money on relocating shock brackets

They can and will. I have had Alcan for several years, no real complaints. @Tundra2 has them as well.

I wouldn't do this. If I could do it over I would have skipped the Icon AAL and just invested in new leaf packs.

I started with the ICON AALs and a year and a half later I wasn't impressed or happy with the way the truck sat or handled any sort of load. I ordered the Archive MD leafs and have had them on for a few months now. I couldn't be happier with the ride, the way the truck sits, how it handles my static load (200lbs, bed rack and RTT) and weighted down with camping/offroading gear. Highly recommend the Archives with the U-bolt flip kit. I went with option 3.

Ive been more and more interested in those deaver 10 thin leafs springs or whatever it is. I could keep em greased, and as long as i keep my camper build light i wouldnt have to give up much articulation with rear swaybars.

I would go with the Archive Garage leafs instead of the Deaver. The Deavers (unless custom) are pretty soft and don't provide much in the way of lift height.

I saw, that’s still almost half as much as others. Most off road specialty are $650-900

There is no listed "lift specs" for these. others have reported 1-1.5" over their current springs. Their springs were likely worn out and sagging when replaced, so not sure if replacing a good set with these will offer that much lift. My father in law got some for his 2006 GMC (and a set of Timbrens) and got about 1.5" of lift. His 16' trailer was putting his truck on the bumpstops before, now it only squats him about an inch. Doesn't ride rough either. I'll be replacing mine with these.

General Springs also makes Custom Leaf Packs.

    ATS the same.

Many members here have used with success both their Stock Height and HD’s.

The guys at Deaver Told me they could build me a leaf pack for my 1200 pound camper. I think they said it was gonna be around $1200. I ended up selling the camper and I’m gonna go a smaller one. I like the idea of the Deavers because they soak up a lot more but they are not for carrying heavy loads unless you custom build them that way. I ended up getting a steal on the general spring HD‘s and have yet to install..

My only point to be made is..... if you order custom deavers, they are yours, love them or hate them. While I do go fast and like them to ride well, I do have some static weight at all times. Archive Garage has taken the time to perfect these, I don't desert run but I do go fast. Under the loads I carry these ride much better then AALs with the overload in or out of the pack. Just my 2 cents.

I think its just a stock replacement with maybe a heavier load. For guys just looking to get more life from their trucks thats a good way to go.
