    Greetings from Oregon.

New member - First time tundra owner - 2nd time Toyota owner.
After years of driving full size trucks from the 70's and 80's, my wife thought I needed something newer, more comfortable and with working features...like A/C and cruise control...oh and instead of drafting behind a big rig on the freeway to get 11 mpg, I get 16+ cruising at 70 mph. It's amazing how much you love these features when you have not had them for so many years.

First, let's take a trip down memory lane; I'm feeling a bit nostalgic. This was my first Toyota - it was a 1991 Pickup - base model. It came with no rear bumper, no radio, no passenger side mirror - nothing. I bought it brand new on Nov 4, 1990. I added an amazing sound system (for the 90's), steel black/chrome wheels, custom carpet kit in the bed among other things. The picture below was how it looked almost every day. I washed it and waxed it way too often but I cold not get enough of that metallic light blue shine under the afternoon sun. I bought a brand new canopy and had it custom painted to match the factory color of the truck. It had the 22RE with a 5 speed and was finally put to rest with 112K miles when that tree jumped right out in front of it. It was a sad day.

Fast forward to present day...or two weeks ago. Picked up a 2004 SR5 4WD 4.7L Access Cab with 70K miles. I'm diggin' it! It has the towing package and tows my boat nicely, has a Rhino bed liner that you could eat off of and a Glasstite Raven canopy. Only a few plans in mind for this one - 2" leveling kit in the front, some new wheels with less backspace/wider off set, (not a fan with how the stock wheels are tucked in) some new all terrain rubber and a touch screen head unit with modern day technology. For god sake, this thing still has a cassette player.

    Welcome!

How bad did the tree wreck your old 91?

Bent frame, smashed the hood, fenders, bumper, radiator, cracked the motor, damaged the transmission. I thought a little JB weld, a jug of Bondo, a hammer and some good rubbing compound and it would be good as new, but the insurance company did not agree.

That was my first truck - after that, I had a Dakota, S10, F250, K10 and now the Tundra. It took me a while, but I finally came back around. :D

Welcome!! Lived in Drain, Oregon (south of Eugene) for 13 years. Brother still there. I am still a huge QuackerBacker Duck fan. What about you? Duck or Beaver? Neither?

    Thanks!
Neither. I like to root for team sturgeon fishing.
It was tough to see it go. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with my Tundra.
