WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption, which is a good thing. Or it would be if the encryption was working in your favor. Facebook holds the encryption keys. This means Facebook can silently log a new device into your account, controlled by them, so they can monitor your communications and continue building a stronger profile of you

I like those. I got married at a park and one of the employees had a very nice green one, I wanted to drive it.

Some stuff about TX that I have not seen in the news.
    • Texas rainfall has been increasing in the last 120 years
    • The last 5 years have been the wettest on record
    • Temperatures in Texas have been declining slightly for the last 100 years

I knew rainfall has been increasing, but gonna call BS on temps declining. Almost gave myself heat stroke yesterday.

Have you been alive for 100 years?

I took some classes a few years ago, one of the things they pounded into our head was that you always build and plan for at least the 100 year flood. The news likes to focus on the last 30 or so because it fits the agenda better.

Pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name.

im a suspicious observer, i know all about the shenanigans played by ‘climate scientists’. And the high humidity is why its been so brutal. But i can still hope for 600’ of sea level rise so i can have a beach nearby.

Unpopular opinion-I do believe we are messing up the planet. There is no way that going from going from 3.7 billion to 7.7 billion in just 50 years hasn't done irreversible damage. I genuinely feel bad for future generations. These are the good times.

Yup, exactly like the one where I got married aside from the color. Beautiful vehicles. I hopped in the time machine of Google Photos and found it.

My brother found this thing for sale in Colorado and he lived in Florida. I think it was listed in some 4x4 magazine because it was before the internet was used much. The Willys had gotten stuck in a river at some point in its life and left there for a while before they were able to drag it out. Always thought that was interesting.

Before they restored it my brother went offroading in it a lot. I don't know what it weighed but it was like a tank. One time he took me out along the edge of a canal in FL and we immediately sunk it. Florida mud is NASTY. We had to have a neighbor pull us out. Good times.

They eventually sold it to a collector in NYC and they think it may have been destroyed when Hurricane Sandy hit because they haven't seen it online in the years since then.

Her coat is awesome, very wiry but soft. We got her from a shelter and the best we can tell she is some type of a Fell Terrier. Honestly not sure what her coat needs, I've only had labs for the past 10+ years.
    More research to come.

This is one of those indisputable facts I encourage you to dig into a little deeper. This planet is amazing. Many years ago in Africa there was a guy named Allan Savory. They were having some drought, erosion and other local environment problems. The science said there were to many grazing elephants. So they started to reduce the population. Things did not improve, so they double down. Things got worse. As it turns out the problem was not to many but to few. Once naturally mimicked grazing techniques were implemented things quickly improved. Humans can have a similar effect. If instead of tearing down trees and hills we planted trees and built landscapes to hold and and capture water, diversity, productivity and robustness would only increase. That giant trash ball in the pacific is 100% from the US recycling industry. We don't have a giant trash ball because there are too many people. We have a giant trash ball because it is socially acceptable to go into a gas station and buy a plastic bottle everyday and then throw it away (I mean recycle).

A few years ago I spent the winter learning about soil health. It pretty much blew my mind. The recovery ability is just awesome. I won't argue that our current trajectory sucks. I understand why we started farming like we did in IA. We know better now. Some people are going to burn in hell for continuing to encourage those practices(law makers and corporate heads). Our number one export in this country is top soil, straight down the Mississippi. The message for us is there is nothing we can do but move to a city, buy a tesla and recycle our trash. I will argue that all of those things make this planet worse.

I have hope. I don't have expectations. People can make good decisions.

Most of the giant trash ball is actually from fishing nets out of SE Asia...

We've massively increased our carbon footprint over the last century, it doesn't take hella maths to deduce that there's a negative effect associated. I would agree that the message too quickly blames the individual consumer when its corporations that generate massive amounts of trash and that said message is largely a result of corporations pushing the blame on individuals during the 70s/80s.

I don't have source for the trash ball but I did watch a few documentaries on it a couple years ago. The claim at the time showed our recycles get dumped in the ocean over there so the poor workers can sort through it. The non recycles or just the parts that get missed just float out to sea. I don't really know much more about it.

I have not seen that math. I have spent a fair bit of time with greenhouses though. The theory that we keep getting hotter and hotter does not register with any real world scenario I have been in. I can add one layer of plastic to a green house and it gets hot. If I ad a second layer (more plastic) the temperature does not go up more.

Real climate history over the last few thousand years shows very large temperature swings. Much more so than the 1 degree we are talking about. I am not sure why we decided that we have the ability change the temperature of this planet. That seems kind of presumptuous to me. On the NOAA website they have these super complicated formulas to modify real observed temperatures. Over the last few years they have had to modify those formulas to keep the graphs moving up. The real temperature graphs show a downward trend. The truth is complicated. I will continue to ask questions with one eyebrow up. I just want the truth. There is a whole lot of money to be made if those graphs continue to trend up.

You are on the right track because years ago a good bit of our recyclables were sold and shipped over seas, but the foreign buyers had a tough time making a profit so they dumped it in the seas. However, most of the mess that is currently seen in the oceans originates in SE Asia. Documentaries on the subject most often portray America as the culprit, but those documentaries have an anti-American agenda so they have no qualms about lying.

I've performed surveys on enough failed reclaims to have zero faith in man's ability to restore natural landscape... at least in rangeland and prairies. With enough water, nature usually restores itself - and even then, that water is typically coming from an unnatural source in the form of ag runoff. Otherwise you're looking at a plot with nothing but noxious weeds or undesirable species that do not match reference, do not provide surface stabilization, and take countless days of management just to combat species that have reoccupied. It's a vicious cycle.
