I'd kill to get rid of the cheap interior plastics. While I have no intention of selling my 2016, I'd welcome the upgrades. Seems the 60k pickup is basement now.

Think how much more room we would have if they went back to a column shifter. Drinks, phones, food, fold over desk like the F150 without having a fold down shifter.

Seriously. This is the only thing I really don't like about my truck. I'd much rather have a column shifter and a fold-down middle seat up front.

Looks like they need to come up with even MORE buttons...I see some empty space at the 6:00 position on the steering wheel and to the right of the shifter on that vertical silver colored space. Good grief IMO the number of buttons and switches is beyond ridiculous.

    Amen to that.

Having the HVAC controls in the head unit is absolutely ridiculous. I don't need five menus to navigate in order to bump the temperature - just give me the existing dial. It did NOT need to be redesigned just because Dodge/Ford bury the controls in the menus.

It's going to be hard to find trucks, or cars, in the future without that stupidity.

I know it's because they can charge a premium for the "tech" versus the simplicity of the past, but it's gone well past the point of usefulness.

I don't think the buttons would be overwhelming after driving it a few weeks.

I like the angled buttons on the doors. Gets them put of the way and maybe protects them a bit when you have to crack a window on rainy days.

I'm not a big column shift proponent. I drove a rental truck with column shift while traveling for work, not impressed at all and when I got in my GX at the airport to come home, I damn near ripped the wiper control arm off the column. :eek2:

It's not about overwhelming, its about frustration. Engine lag from stop-start is annoying and reminds you every time you step on the gas after a light. Having to wait to get to a light, go through two or three menus, just to turn down the heat is equally stupid.

Just wait til car manufs or gov't decide that all touchsceens should be locked unless under 5mph and you truly can't adjust unless at a stop light.

I don't like billboard displays on the dash.
Good thing I plan to keep my 2014 until the wheels fall off..

Then just buy one, even Tundra has a column shifter if you specify it. But I'll bet you're in the minority, maybe 1 out of 200.

I LOVE my shifter, so easy to flip it into S mode and pretend I'm driving a manual :mudding:

    I do that every day..
I downshift to slow down on the highway..

I had a bench seat in my 2005..
It was beneficial when the kids were little and I had to haul 6 people around on occasion.
But I much prefer my 2014 bucket seat with the big console.

Funny even after 7 years I'll reach for the column shifter every once in awhile...:eek2:

Stop start usually can be disabled. That would bother the hell out of me, I can't stand stop start.

I didn't catch that the air conditioning relies on the head unit. To me thats a major foul. I've never cared a bit about screens and "infotainment" (I hate that word) but I do like ripping out stock head units and dropping in Alpine units. Thats going to get interesting.

This was a difficult decision when I was shopping. Yeah I may be in the minority, but the limitations the front bench seat forces upon you in terms of other features is pretty lame. The bench seat only comes on the SR and SR5 (no upgrade) trims. No way to get a 38gal tank or TRD OR package with the front bench seat. The idea of attempting a swap for a column shift and front bench is always in the back of my mind…

That's why I was trying to find a base 6 seater and then swap the tank figure that would be the cheaper way. I really hate the center console in the floor they usually bother my right knee resting against it. But since the shortage and msrp+ I've pretty much given up. Hoping for a bench option in the new gen, that pic looks horrible for my issue
